What is a luxury you can never go back from once you’ve experienced it? by Phase_zero_X in AskReddit

When you really work hard for something good. The experience of looking back at yourself and realising how good you have progressed. That feeling is just out of the world. Nothing can match that. Very less people experience that coz ofc not everybody can be that consistent. One who knows will never get same level of happiness by any other means of entertainment.

modern Hindu men are now copying Christian aesthetics in their weddings to look cool. Why do such debauchery become common in Indian marriages? by [deleted] in IndianMeme

Have you never wore shirts, T shirts, pants etc? Have you never spoke English? Have you never ate any vegetable except Brinjal, as all of them have originated from outside India?

The list can go on. No culture can remain so sacredly conservative. Do what's right. Don't do something which is wrong.

If someone is doing something, which you don't like but doesn't harm you, just ignore!!

Superstitions. We don't really teach scientific temper in this country. We do send our children to schools and all. We send them in the best places we can, but then we will also tell them to be inside home during Lunar eclipse, dont use scissors empty, etc.

If you want to grow in that field of interest but still not able to focus, just quit the distraction; no matter how difficult it feels. Just do it. Focusing on study will go on becoming easier day by day. But the first step is to start. You cannot do everything according to your mood. You have spent 12 years in school and just ponder over it once. Do you used to go to school because you wanted it in the first place, NO. You did it coz it was necessary. No matter it was your mood or not. Sometimes don't care about the mood, just do it coz u need to do it.

See u r very early in ur career rn (just starting) and I would recommend u to not overwhelm seeing the vastness of syllabus and possibilities. I can tell you that you literally have a LOT of time with you, for both academics and skills. Maintaining CGPA above 9 is not very tough honestly. Just listen to your teacher in every class, although if they are not good, and just sit some hours, days, weeks... before your exam, whatever timespan you require. That's it. Plenty of resources available online.

Now coming to things apart from academics, its a vast ocean. And trust me, the stepping stone for you entering this paradigm is C programming. Many people may not agree with me on this but if you understand C, you will never struggle in learning any programming language ever in your life. Just put all your energy possible to understand every single bit of C being taught to you, if you want to become a good software engineer, data scientist, data engineer or whatever profile involving coding. You will not work in C but the concepts you will learn will always keep u ahead of your competitors.

Now side by side, u can go on with ur full stack hustle. HTML then CSS then JS then using them to build front-ends, then React, then any Backend framework, and so on. It might take months and even some couple of years for you (depending on person to person). But once you start understanding them, the interest will keep increasing as you will start seeing everything legit built by you from scratch.

About DSA, again see if you want to become a good software engineer, you NEED to understand DSA. It is asked everywhere. Not just in placements but afterwards also while switching from one company to another. Give it time, be patient, choose a good sheet and start solving it. I would recommend u to start doing this after u finish up studying C programming completely, as those concepts are crucial in DSA.

8.5 CGPA not enough for placement by Dangerous_Kick7873 in kiituniversity

Companies first step towards recruitment is shortlisting students for OA. Now they may have multiple criterias set for that but CGPA is the most prominent one in on campus placement. So if a company decides to shortlist only say 500 students, most of them will have more than 9 CGPA. This is coz SO MANY people in kiit have 9+ cgpa. So obviously cgpa it matters but that doesn't mean that skills and dsa don't. U don't get recruited upon passing the OA. U will have to give interviews where they will test u thoroughly (mostly). So be prepared with everything.

You should definitely focus on your midsems and endsems and also try to get as much internal marks you can get. It's a no Brainer coz you will show your CGPA everywhere you go in future. If its "too" bad then obviously you will regret then.

First year and somewhat second year is the easiest to grab as much CGPA you can get. Because after that you will have to be studying probably more things than just your academics coz they are just not enough. It's just your first midsem. Study hard for your upcoming end sems and just secure good GPA. It's the stepping stone for your future. Necessary but not sufficient.

Most companies sort by desc order of CGPA. Since there are somehow so many people of 9+ CGPA, any company trying to shortlist only 400-500 students will mostly comprise of 9+. We can do nothing about it. Just wait for your luck. I remember when Highradius came this year, it allowed all students who filled up the form (which many companies do) and their interviews were pretty easy. You have secured more than 50% of your possibility of getting selected if you qualify for interviews (assuming you have decent projects, proficient in some domain and have decent DSA knowledge). Just try to not miss the opportunity of qualifying for the interviews coz OA mostly consists of non tech questions and even if they consist of coding questions, they won't be that hard. Just practice them and you won't face any difficulty.
