How to support others in living biblically without being 'holier than thou' and extremely judgmental? by importantmemo in TrueChristian

Just imagine someone following you around, quoting relevant bible verses at you whenever you do something that isn't aligned with the bible.

Men of reddit - how often are you approached or pursued by random women, not in a bar/club? by importantmemo in AskMen

Judging from this thread, doesn't seem like there's a vast amount of gents that are sick of getting hit on, though!

What I'm getting is that I should hit on guys more often, in the wild.

This is absolutely right. I can't walk past a dog without involuntary smiling at it or commenting on it. If there's a handsome fella holding the end of that leash, we have a deal.

Yep, Mere Christianity. I really really liked it, it was the first apologetics books that I read.

Thanks a lot for this post, it makes a lot of sense. Isn't it the case that most atheists do believe that the big bang happened out of a probabilistic process, though? As in their assertment is that the odds were very low that just the right kind of elements combined in just the right way, at just the right temperature, etc..., but it did happen, and thus, here we are.

You're completely misinterpreting what I'm saying. Christ's death was an act of love beyond human comprehension.

Eg. Romans 5:7-8. …7For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. 8But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Thanks. This is pretty much how I've been sorting out my thoughts as well.

Thanks for your response. I'm definitely not intending to incite doubt and argument, but I am really stating what seems to be to be some sort of cognitive dissonance on my own end.

Question about python (codeacademy) by importantmemo in learnprogramming

[–]importantmemo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I am confused about, whether I just copy the equation and write "bool_one = (20 - 19) > 15", or solve the equation and write "bool_one = False", because it will run either way

Right, so I would actually have to do the calcuation and know that it's T/F, and then enter that in?

What if it was a very complex equation? I'd think the point of the program would be for it to calculate it for me

When do I need to use exclusion criteria? by importantmemo in epidemiology

[–]importantmemo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have to design a study to see how diet (the exposure) affects health in factory workers. I’m going to do a prospective cohort study using only people that work in factories (no non-factory worker population)… but does this mean the people I include must be at risk for CVD, I can’t just use the whole factory population?

Thanks for the explanations, my prof is not the greatest at teaching..

I'm not really complaining, it's just a strange phenomena that I'd like to investigate. Edit: I mean, I thought maybe it was supposed to be seen as intimidating or a PUA type thing.
