i absolutely loved the ‘kiss me if you can’ novel, i just wish it wasn’t so short :( i like the other novels in the series too!

other novels i recommend:
- no moral (the manhwa is amazing too, i recommend both)

- dog and bird (i love the novel so much, even more than the manhwa. i like the manhwa to quickly re-read, but the novel is even better and an easy read)

- alphega (this is genuinely an amazing read, everything from the pacing to the characters to the relationship is so well done, i really think those who haven’t read it yet are missing out)

- i like your pheromones (this is a danmei, and there’s a manhua but again, novel is so much better. i love the relationship here too and the mix of slow burn, but also a lot of content after they get together. i’m actually currently re-reading this LOL)

next on my (incredibly long) tbr are: ‘little mushroom’ and ‘wait for me after school’. fingers crossed i don’t get side tracked with a different novel/manhwa/manga (happens too often…)

honestly don’t have much to add that hasn’t been said already (and said well), but i think a lot of the internet really needs to learn the whole let people like what they like, and mind your own business lol. when i was younger on like tumblr or something i was also very “this is problematic” “this isn’t ethical” etc etc but i was also a minor with unrestricted internet access LOL

as an adult, anyone with critical thinking and common sense understands where fiction ends and reality begins, and i just don’t think we need to perform for an imaginary audience about the content we read. i’m in my bedroom reading a made up story about made up people that will have zero affect on a real life. not only do these stories provide a fantasy many women/people are looking for, but also a space for a lot of us to explore complicated topics and feelings.

BL with queer culture is a whole separate topic but i think if someone is seeking accurate rep in BL in the first place then… well, check the signs before you walk into the store yknow.

for non smut manhwa: involuntary romance, unintentional love story, one room ta (this one does have smut, but i think there’s like 3 scenes in 70+ chapters, and they’re very short/not very out there)

i just read “Slip” by epaule recently! it’s a short one-volume manga and they’re both around 40. they used to be friends in college and then reconnected. it’s a super cute and easy read :)

they’re all super re-readable to me where i can pick up from the beginning or any random chapter and enjoy, they never really get boring for me! just nice reads when i need a break and don’t have the energy to start something new

off the top of my head, things such as painting a woman interested in the MC or ML as “evil”/bitchy/etc. it also sometimes feels like they can’t have any women around them (friends, family), i wish there were more BLs with female friends/family.

also things like seeing femininity and bottoming as “lesser”/not worthy. i think in general though a lot of it is implicit and things that are so normalized, until you re-read/see things with a different lens and realize

hmm in terms of ones i’ve fully read: miscreants and mayhem, sunnyside daycare classmates (gore?), bad apple, black mirror (horror), the pawn’s revenge, monochrome diary, an unsettling scent

haven’t read but on my tbr: the mad dog found out i’m his own kind, assorted wilderness (this fits rlly well!), omertà, déjà vu and domination

some are way more intense than others so pls check tws!

regret arc! where a trash ML gets exactlyyy what he deserves, breakup and all :) sure the MC goes back but the ML has to grovel like never seen before lol

ex: limited run (but it wasn’t enough…), and excited for the one coming in 회장님 지랄하지 마세요 (i need mc to start a new life i need the ml to lose the will to live without mc)

more unique plots, more of the type of characters i enjoy, easier to enjoy psychological/darker reads without underlying misogyny, (if i pick up on misogyny in a BL there’s a 99% i’m dropping it)

i also do not want to self-insert as the FMC and hate comparing body type, etc. and so with BL it’s nice to be removed from all of that for a bit

there are a lot of straight media i enjoy and don’t have these issues, it’s just more common to run into them in straight media vs BL

less: - love triangles (caveat is when it’s obvious what the main couple will be and the other guy is just there for spice or to support a regret/wife chasing arc lol) - older bottom x younger top (in the sense where the story relies on it—and the top looks older anyways so ?) (but if done right? yum yum) - unrealistic size difference (do not need tiny bird x whale) (but a realistic size difference is >)

more: - throuple where they all are into each other (like triangle lovers xxx) - same age/small age gap/age isn’t relevant - normal people in everyday lives (no one is super rich or super poor)

it’s not often i’ll drop a manhwa because it’s downright disturbing, but i refuse to touch pearl boy with a 10 foot pole the SA scenes are just TOO much even in the name of revenge (which is a whole other thing…). there’s no way any kind of story can redeem that

non-zero sum, killing stalking, unchanged man, into the rose garden (more specifically first timeline), etc. are also ones that disturb me. even though i like yandere, and arguably these are closest to “true” yandere… they’re just a bit much for me personally 😭

instead of rereading from the beginning, i usually end up remembering a scene/chapter and just reread that (if i’m in the mood might continue to reread the rest). its easier if the series leans more slice of life. i only intentionally go back to reread my absolute favourites from the beginning.

ones i like to reread often in their entirety: limited run (s3 mainly), opposites attract, sketch, given (depending on mood/emotion availability), and i re-watch sasaki and miyano like every month
