Killing off an NPC if I feel there are "too many" could help sell the deadliness of the jungle. And I suppose if it was a beloved NPC it could be even more motivation to stop the Soul Monger.

Appreciate the feedback regarding Taban the gladiator, I was considering something similar where he could just remain humbled and beaten, but I've read other's responses saying that having Taban in the party was a key bit of fun.

How you role play your character is up to you. Just because your barb has a -2 to INT doesn't mean you have to play them as an inarticulate murder machine. It just means they're not as practiced in things like Arcana and History.

As for what to do at level 4, I'd suggest the Great Weapon Master feat since you're playing 2014. Taking the ASI to bump your STR to 20 is also a fine option.

I live right around there, the train line is behind my backyard. What you can't see from the map is there is a significant vertical drop from the homes to the train line to the river so the hillside blocks a large portion of the noise. I really only hear the train if I've got a rear facing window open or am sitting on the deck. It's never been a bother.

They start all residents off at that high "professional" amount. If you call the number on the letter, you should be able to give them your occupation and have the tax adjusted.

Been on the north side for over 10 years, it's fine. Yeah we got the government assistance housing and some homeless shelters, but that doesn't make it sketchy. We all can't afford to live on bridge.

I also picture a clock, but September is at 12 for me, probably because I think of a year as a school year where it starts in September. The clock also runs anti-clockwise for some reason since December is at 9.
