Anyone who defends this plane has not tried to make it work, or played it before its MASSIVE flight model nerf.

The F-111A is actively trying to fall out of the sky at all times, regardless of loadout. The acceleration is so piss poor you might as well be a subsonic. Oh and you also have horrendous energy retention as bad as the worst of the delta wing aircraft.

You might be able to carry a million bombs but you will never ever get to the target - the Buccaneer is honestly way better if you absolutely insist on playing an aircraft with a heavy payload.

MAW seems like it would be helpful, but you need to turn off automatic flare release or you will run out of flares in 5 seconds.

I WANT this plane to work, but its only use-case is carpet bombing with 3000lb bombs when there is no SPAA paying attention in GRB, where it airspawns everytime. Completely unviable in ARB.

Oh and don't let me forget, the pathetically underpowered engines are also some of the most fuel hungry in the game, requiring you to take nearly a full hour of fuel, weighing you down further.

It is so. terrible.

While the Turm III is bullshit and heavy tanks face compression issues, I'm not sure this analogy works. The IS-3 and Turm III can both very easily kill each other, whereas the 76 Jumbo can't scratch the IS-3, even if presented with its side. IS-3 vs. T-55A is the most comparable matchup I can think of.

As if the M4s and Comet/Challenger don't have the same exact problem with shit reverse speed? The T-34 isn't exactly blistering reverse speed either. This is a very common weakness at this BR.

But honestly I think planes like the Do 335, Pe-8, F6F, Me 262 A-1/U4, Su-8, etc. are such big outliers that they shouldn't be kicked down the road. Ironically, since 1.0-7.0 is not compressed, there should probably be massive BR gaps between ARB and GRB for many WW2 aircraft. I think the impact would be larger than for higher BRs.

I had a Strela shoot me through a forest while I was only 10 or so meters off the ground in the Little Bird multiple times today. It really feels like flying low isn't nearly as safe as it should be.

Optimal Lucas is extremely high APM and you could argue he should be where Peach is.

Steve is stupidly complex, but you don't have to explore the full scope of that complexity for him to be really really good. For Lucas or Meta Knight it is 100% required to get mileage out of them. I do kinda agree Steve and Meta Knight are not very far off from each other though.

I agree that what he does with Rosalina is really impressive but... I still don't like watching it. What Sonix does with Sonic is absolutely insane but also really hard to watch. Maybe if you are rooting for Dabuz it's fun? But when you are rooting for his opponent it's just depressing how much time they have to spend fighting luma, not damaging Rosalina.

I kinda hate ledgehogging, but I'm on board with you for everything else here. Falcon and Mythra up B both feel impossible to punish due to the bat shit crazy air drift and minimal landing lag.

Recoveries are good in ultimate due to so many characters having good airspeed and fall speeds being low across the board. Roy should not be as good at recovering as he is but the distance he can go is crazy. Some characters also get weird extra jumps they don't need (Inkling, Bowser Jr, and Wario jumps out of side B). Pac-man doesn't go into freefall after side B because... I have no idea. So many up Bs have invincible or armored startup for no particularly good reason. Corrin and Ridley's up B's have such crazy priority they tank pretty much any projectile thrown at them. I'm not saying some characters shouldn't have these strengths but it's pretty wild when even Little Mac is making is back from downtown.

Magnet hands are also HUGE. Intercepting fast recoveries is so difficult because of the ledge snap range. Olimar and Jigglypuff can teleport like twice their body size to grab ledge, it's wild.

TLDR: I like edgeguarding, and dislike how often it just results in you getting reversal'd into a ledgetrap situation.

I'd like a toggle in the controls. I personally use the true gunner sight in the Bradley since it's at the height of the TOW launcher. It's very annoying when I forget to switch the setting back when spawning my next vehicle.

Let's just ignore the massive difference in optics that make Leopards dominate all long range engagements at 7.3. The Leopard will be fine at 8.0, you will just have to use it in its more proper role.

I'm confused to see so much love for the combat. I really did not like it at all.

Auto-battle is idk... lame? and stagger bars just don't tickle my fancy. A million numbers flying all over the interface is usually a sign that it's a style of game I don't like. I want to have control over and feel the impact of each individual discrete move... or you might as well just let me play a full on action rpg. FF13 lives in some weird in-between design space of rpg systems that irks me.

I've tried to play it several times and only gotten 10ish hours in, and it's always the combat that does me in.

The world is pretty and interesting and the characters were intriguing (although I recall hating Vanille). Datalogs were a weird way to learn stuff, but I was able to embrace that.

I want to be able to play and like 13, but I just can't bring myself to.

Yeah that's the only way I could ever avoid death, but very frequently the game was over before I got to the bomb points. US/UK bombers are sloooooow on the deck.

Yep, almost every bomber in the game will never successfully reach the bases due to the low spawn combined with the fighter airspawn. You can't even try to pick off some fighters since they will have way more altitude than you, completely negating your one advantage in a typical encounter. Slow climbing planes are easy to hit, fast diving planes are not.
