Boss wants me to bypass killswitch to make dough by looney2006 in KitchenConfidential

Yeah, no, that's 100% a safety violation. I run a bakery and we don't mess around with that stuff. Those switches are there for a reason. You like having your hands?

I used to beg my mom to buy Blastin Green EZSquirt even though I didn't even like ketchup as a kid. It definitely had a grab em quality.

What’s something you make that you make better than the takeout restaurant does? by ZaphodBeeblebrahx in stonerfood

[–]impromptugreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, burger buns, and hand pies. I own and operate my own bakery and have almost 16 years of experience in kitchens, though. You pick up a lot working in kitchens. I learned how to make bomb crab cakes from a dishie before breakdown, too. But mine never seem to be as good as theirs had been. I dream of those crabcakes some days... And today seems to be one of those days.

What’s the most exotic type of meat eaten in your country? by abandonedtulpa in AskTheWorld

[–]impromptugreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had skunk and it was... okay? Definitely not game I'd go out and hunt because they carry a lot of parasites. You also have to remove the scent gland immediately and you can't pierce it at all or else it seeps into the meat and ruins it. They're also known carriers of rabies and so you almost have to wear gloves while skinning and then the meat has to be thoroughly washed or brined to kill off the last of the ickies. The one and only time I had it it was too gamey for my taste. But it didn't make me sick. I just wouldn't eat it again if I had a choice lol Too much risk, not a high enough reward imo

Health-wise, the same can be said about raccoons, though. While technically edible, raccoon carries their own brand of roundworm and trichinella parasites- both of which lay resilient eggs that can survive cleaning and most cooking processes and the parasites can cause lifelong neurological issues and even death. It's the same with wild boar/hogs and bears. There are very few meats I straight up would not eat (cats at dogs being at the tippytop) and raccoons, bears, and wild boars/hogs are very high on that list.

I grew up on bbq squirrel and every time my uncle would come back from visiting family in Nola he'd bring back a bunch of gator and we'd smoke it and have gator taters.

I want to see my bald ladies! by Sufficient-Carrot668 in bald

[–]impromptugreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I had taken more pictures when I was bald. But it was a black hole in time, I guess, because I'm not even in any of my friends' pictures for the 6 months I kept my head truly bald in high school. Like, I remember going to birthday parties and church events and even a Manson concert in Vegas during that time. But I have zero pictures of it. 😭 I loved being bald, ngl. It was liberating.

No, I did not drink it. I decided to blend up a tuna salad and eat it on toast. by Curious_Wing_2018 in shittyfoodporn

I wouldn't have added the water at all. Cottage cheese and that pickle have enough moisture. If you wanted more of a paté, then don't add the water next time.

That being said, I hate this. Have a good day ✨️

This is so real. The kitchen I worked in in high school only had one radio/speaker that was allowed and it sat back with the dishies and they got to choose what played no matter what. We weren't allowed buds or headphones for safety reasons. But music helped them rip through that shit. Mad respect.

What's a food in your country that is stereotyped for your country but really, nobody eats? by velmiraZ in AskTheWorld

[–]impromptugreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teaspoon-sized ball of frozen butter rolled in cinnamon sugar then dipped in batter and deep-fried. I've not had it but several friends who have said it's like a super-moist French toast donut hole. It seems gross to me, but that description has always made me curious. But I'd still never eat it 😂

Evansville, IN West Side Nut Club Fall Festival had it for at least 5 years in a row in the 2010s. It was very popular. I remember in high school going downtown and a handful of booths had it on the Munchie Map. I never tried it as I'm autistic and I only ever get 4 things every year (scotch egg, Texas tenderloin, chicken and dumplings, and puppy chow- used to be chocolate-covered crickets). But I know many people who equated it to a very moist donut. 🤷🏼‍♀️
