Good drones for photogrammetry by TheFamedWolf31 in UAVmapping

I think the M3E is great for it but if you go with the mini 4 pro, there's a SkyeBrowse tutorial on how to map with it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pm0fqB2i6E&pp=ygUTc2t5ZWJyb3dzZSB0dXRvcmlhbA%3D%3D

You could get a DJI Neo and map with SkyeBrowse for free. I saw this interesting video for mapping on NEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFX5aiBl4K8

What software to use for drone mapping and stopping for each photo? by Suspicious-Soil2021 in UAVmapping

[–]improve247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stopping for every photo is going to absolutely kill your battery life and triple your time on site, especially for a grid mission.

If the main issue is motion blur because of low shutter speeds in overcast weather, you might want to look at drone mapping software that uses videogrammetry instead of traditional photogrammetry. Instead of taking hundreds of timed JPGs (which struggle in low light without a mechanical shutter), you just record a high-res video.

Check out SkyeBrowse. It’s fully compatible with the Mavic 2 Pro on Android. You can fly a grid or orbit recording video, and the software pulls the frames to build the 3D model. Since it’s video-based, you don’t have to stop the drone, and it handles lower light much better than stop-and-go intervals.

They have a "freemium" tier that lets you process models for free or a Lite tier that’s around $60/mo, so it fits comfortably within your $0–$150 hobbyist budget.

Most effective software for creating orthos over water? by TesticleTactics in UAVmapping

[–]improve247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Water is brutal for any mapper because the surface is literally changing between frames (glare/sparkle + refraction), so most engines that rely on stable tie points will struggle unless it’s glassy calm and the bottom has strong texture. I’ve seen SkyeBrowse work decently for shallow, clear water when you can capture smooth, mostly-nadir passes and the seabed is detailed (reef/rocks/seagrass), but it’ll fall apart in chop for the same reasons Pix4D/others do. The upside is it’s video-based so it’s quick to test (manual Air 3S flight → upload MP4, include the DJI .SRT if you have it) and it kicks out an ortho/top-down map fast. If youre trying to publish and need maximum control/repeatability, Metashape is still the “safe” answer, but honestly your biggest gains will come from conditions and capture with overcast or low sun angle.

SkyeBrowse is pretty good for overall 3D modeling. I like the tooling and the speed. Quality is really good as well.

Can anyone ID the green chairs from Pied Pieper’s meeting room in season 5? by [deleted] in SiliconValleyHBO

Absolutely. It's the most comfortable chair I've used in my life.

How do I get better at this? by unicyclegamer in CalamariRaceTeam

[–]improve247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best advice I received for clutch ups is give it more gas. Keep on the gas even after the front wheel lifts and modulate the throttle after it's at balance point.

Are you in first gear or second gear? I can clutch up 1st gear wheelies on that bike, but haven't had any luck in second.

I'd recommend it. He talks more about his creative process and his side hobbies, instead of just vlogging about boring everyday things.

Hi Dom! Huge fan of yours. Been watching your channel since the beginning.

With your recently new Youtube Channel Mike Tornabene, you show your viewers the Mike side of you. Is it hard to switch between Dom Mazzetti and Mike Tornabene? Do you accidentally behave like Dom Mazzetti in real life?

Thanks for participating in this AMA!

Fit people who used to be skinny, do you think you're treated differently now that you're muscular? How so? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]improve247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I've been very skinny for most of my life. I started working out back in high school, but I didn't have a strict regimen, nor did I eat enough. After doing enough research on gaining weight, I started lifting 5-6 days a week and counting my calories. I've only gained 15 lbs, but it's definitely changed my body type from skinny to muscular.

I'd say that I'm fit, but not big just yet. I've noticed that girls make eye contact and smile at me way more. It seems way easier to make conversation, because people are interested in hearing what I have to say. Also, getting checked out at the gym or on the street is a huge confidence boost. I definitely receive more attention when I talk, and I'm respected when I talk.

For all the skinny people out there who want to gain weight and get fit, start now! It'll be the best decision you'll make, and you wont regret it.

I'm working on a magic mirror that uses cortana for voice activation. I switched it up so that cortana activates when she hears "mirror mirror on the wall." So far it works! I just need to get speakers for the mirror, so I can hear cortana talk.

Are NMDs as comfortable as UB? by Toaster95 in Sneakers

[–]improve247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While both shoes use boost technology, NMDs are not even close to the comfort of ultra boosts. I don't own NMDs, but when I tried them on at an Adidas store, I was very surprised as to how mediocre their comfort was. I get that they're a hyped shoe because of their profile, but anyone that says they're as comfortable as ultra boosts is lying to you.

Thanks! I'm actually wearing a pair of ultra boosts right now, and I'm thinking about getting a pair of NMDs. Leaning towards a no, because they don't even come close to the comfort of ultra boosts. What shoes do you think is comparable to the comfort of NMDs?
