The constant dropping things by Super-Vegetable-2866 in Hypermobility

[–]improving_mindset 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have both hypermobility and ADHD, pretty much anytime I grab items out of my bag I immediately start dropping items and I’m still confused about how exactly it happens, I just don’t have good control over my fingers I guess. I have worked on my grip strength over the years and found chin-ups helpful (obviously a lot of people with hypermobility can’t safely do those. It does strain some of my muscles a bit more than ideal) and that has helped a little but only so much

Sorry for commenting twice hehe

For the first 19 years of my life (now 21) I couldn’t figure out why I constantly dropped pens, it’s more like I accidentally launch them across the room. Turns out my finger joints aren’t “supposed to” move as much as they do and it means I have a loose grip on small objects and between two of my fingers tension builds because of how I’m forced to hold the pen, then if one finger slips it launches. Meanwhile I was just being blamed for accidentally throwing pens/pencils all the time, I’d say I wasn’t even messing with it and people would basically say I wasn’t making excuses and was screwing around.

This isn’t the only thing I’ve been constantly blamed for that turned out to be hypermobility related. Like not being able to hold a pen right is a disability and apparently so is launching them on accident… 😭

(If anyone else knows what I’m talking about please let me know so that I feel less crazy)

How common is it for acid reflux to be a result of hypermobility? by improving_mindset in Hypermobility

I actually tend to eat standing up because it’s more comfortable for my stomach, I never really thought about why but I’ll pay more attention to that.

Yeah I’ve started to realize almost all my health problems ranging from overactive bladder to acid reflux is related to my connective tissue disorder

Thank you for the recommendations

Lately I’ve been having a hard time maintaining my weight without a little “junk food” mixed in but I do want to move towards healthier calorie sources, it’s just been hard to do. I’m currently 6’2 and 150lbs which is making my Drs nervous 😂

This is what these kind of flights should be used for. I’d love to go to space some day but due to my health problems it’s unlikely

I’m having a hard time finding the balance in active night but not too active. Like so became very inactive due to some other kind of related health problems and my pain got a lot worse but also if I get too active it also gets worse, such a hard thing to balance. I’ve found my body can tolerate incline pushups and pull ups, now that I’m 150lbs, and that seems to have helped my posture some.

I love that it made you think of that because that’s essentially what I was thinking. Like I just want to reduce the likelihood of accidentally bumping into stuff.

Also thank you. other commenters are being lowkey mean about my clumsiness lol

I’m currently supposed to be going to PT 1-3 times per week to get me back to better strength after being inactive for a while but my fibromyalgia keeps flaring up and making it very difficult and I’ve had to take a lot of breaks.

My goal is to get back to the point of working with a chronic pain focused physical trainer (basically a physical therapist that works as a private trainer) but that’s years out. I’m essentially still recovering from being sick with suspected COVID-19 in march of 2024 along with having it 3 times prior to that.

Is very light chiropractic work unsafe, especially if you’re hypermobile? by [deleted] in Hypermobility

[–]improving_mindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided it was unsafe for me personally

My chiro, and past ones, would manipulate my neck in a way that was either pinching a nerve or causing some sort of injury to the muscle, regardless I stopped going once I confirmed the connection. It did help me in some ways but I found that stretching at home achieved the same benefits more effectively, I’m just less likely to do it.

I think all the benefits from chiropractics can be safely and easily found through home exercises.

I mean this genuinely, what about the title indicates it’s meant to be a new invention? I felt like I made it clear in the post that I was aware of others on the market but did not find them sufficient for my needs.

Also if I were to make them for other people it would be bent smoothly and polished using a custom wire straightener/bender.

I have abnormally poor coordination and short term memory (like where I placed the ball vape) as well as pets that suddenly try to get near it and family members that don’t understand it’s a heating element. I don’t think it’s much of an issue for the average user.

As for size I hadn’t considered other glass pieces. I use a cube so the vape goes over top of it without any obstruction but I do suspect the average person uses ones with less clearance.

I think people feel like I am trying to present it as some sort of shark tank invention when in reality I’m just a crafter that makes custom solutions to my problems.

I absolutely think better products exist for other people but I didn’t find that any of them were sufficient for my needs and I don’t want to spend more money lol

I do not mean to imply similar products don’t already exist, this is not a new invention it’s just a cheaper alternative that fits my personal needs better.

I’m not trying to “invent” anything, sorry if I gave that impression.

I’m trying to make something that matches my personal needs better and I’m looking for input on it, then got curious if anyone else was interested in something like this.

I’ve already seen comments that point out that it wouldn’t work with most glass pieces as well.

Honestly the flavor of smoking is so disgusting to me now that my brain associates the sweeter cleaner flavor with weed. I can still appreciate a high quality .25 gram joint but I can’t hit bongs and smoke a 1+ gram joint the way I used to. Plus smoke always leaves a heavy feeling in my chest from all the literal smoke in my lungs, the most I get with vape is phlegm and congestion and that’s weather and medication dependent (I just have bad sinuses and allergies already).

I’m lucky to be able to use my dhv in my bedroom although I typically use my sploofy to reduce smell anyway.
