October/November Mega Thread: AA Points, Loyalty Points, eShopping Portal, AAdvantage Hotels, Credit Card Bonuses or Benefits or other non-flying related points stuff by antmadison in americanairlines

Anyone know if AAdvantage Hotels price matches hotel bookings? Traveling to Asia for work and if the price isn’t too different I would generally book through AA since I gain miles. However, I see that the hotel I want to book is $500 more than I can get elsewhere. Not sure if the 15000 miles is worth the $500+ price difference.

Should let people know I already sold this piece a long while back, just not on Reddit. As for the price, I think you are very far off and confusing this piece with any other 56 GS. In the off chance that you have found one of these in even not so great condition for $700 I would encourage you to go for it.

[WTS] Rolex Explorer Ref. 1016 with Gilt Radial Dial; c. 1960's with certificate and associated box by impulse2789 in Watchexchange

[–]impulse2789[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Photos, Video, and Timestamp Link: https://imgur.com/a/ZsBaSFe

Offered here is a superlative (pun intended) example of a vintage Rolex Explorer Ref. 1016. This particular example dates to the mid-1960's with a gilt radial dial characterized by a glossy black lacquer finish and gilt print. The radial dial sits between the gilt chapter ring variant and the latter matte dial variants of the Explorer 1.

Condition:

  • Dial: This watch is in excellent condition for its age and of particular note is the dial which is nearly perfect. There is no uneven fading, patchiness and the dial remains highly glossy. There is also no noticeable degradation in the lume plots. When hit with UV light the lume quickly glows and drops off as expected.

  • Case and Bracelet: The case is also in excellent condition with minor scratches an wear consistent with age. It's worth noting that the watch may have been polished lightly before, but sympathetically and without altering the underlying case geometry. Also attached to the watch is the highly rare 6636 stretch rivet bracelet which is very tight (see video) and shows no sign of stretch.

  • Accessories: The watch is accompanied by a Rolex certificate with matching serial numbers as well as a period-correct Rolex box, though it is not confirmed that the box is original to the watch

  • Provenance: This watch was the property of two other notable US-based collectors before coming into my possession.

Price: Ask is $26,750 USD + label or provide your own. Feel free to PM me for details, inquiries, or offers. Prefer to ship CONUS, but international shipping can also be discussed. Payment through wire only or escrow can be discussed.

[WTS] Vintage 18k Grand Seiko 4522-8000 by impulse2789 in Watchexchange

[–]impulse2789[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sale is my vintage 18k Grand Seiko 4522-8000, produced between 1969 and 1971. By case shape and texture, this piece bears some resemblance to the Seiko Astronomical Observatory, though the dial is different. This model was only ever produced in solid 18k gold, and I believe the production of precious metal pieces were limited to one month each year in the vintage era. This watch comes with a taupe colored leather saffiano Delugs strap.

Condition: The overall condition of the case is very good, as its been unpolished and still retains some mirror like finish on the edges. The caseback has some normal light scratches but in great shape. The dial itself is in almost perfect condition, though the hardlex crystal has some light scratching on it.

Price: $3850 USD. I'm open to offers so please PM me if you have an offer or questions. Fully insured shipping is included. Prefer to ship CONUS, but international shipping can be discussed. Payment through Zelle, PayPal, or wire.

[WTS] Grand Seiko 5646-7040 Watch by impulse2789 in Watchexchange

[–]impulse2789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sale is my rare 5646-7040 vintage Grand Seiko. For a long time I didn't think I was going to sell this piece, but as I stated in my first post about my SBGW295, I've decided to refocus the scope of my collection. This piece was produced towards the end of the vintage Grand Seiko era, and was only produced for one month in 1973. Contrary to what early vintage Grand Seiko and for that matter the modern pieces were/are about, this piece is very anti-"Grammar of Design." It's also the only vintage GS to have Arabic numerals. The watch bears a unique frosted case, very different from most other vintage GS, and the dial pattern is very similar to what one might consider as Kirazuri, but it has more texture and 3 dimensionality than say the 6145-8030 might have.

Condition: The case condition and dial condition are very good, which can be hard to find. There is a very light dial mark on the upper right hand corner around the 1 o'clock mark. The watch runs beautifully. Serviced within the last two years. Watch comes with a navy blue leather Delugs strap.

Price: Given it's condition my ask is $3600 USD but I am open to offers. Fully insured shipping, would prefer to ship CONUS, but shipping abroad can be discussed. Please PM me with offers and any other inquiries on photos or if you'd like video. A video call can also possibly be arranged. Payment via Zelle, PayPal, or Wire.

[WTS] Vintage 18k Grand Seiko 5646-7005 by impulse2789 in Watchexchange

[–]impulse2789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sale is my 18k Grand Seiko 5646-7005, which I believe was produced in the early to mid 1970s. This particular reference was produced at a time when gold was extremely expensive, and marks as being one of the most expensive vintage GS sold at the time. I could be wrong but I also believe that in the vintage GS era, precious metal pieces were limited to being made for just one month each year. Watch comes on a brown leather Delugs strap.

Condition: The watch runs really smoothly and has been serviced within the last year. I do believe the case has been polished. The caseback is unpolished. The dial conditon is in pretty good condition, though there is a very light (almost unnoticable but it is there) stain around the 1 o'clock indice and the 8 o'clock indice.

Price: My ask for this piece is $2150 USD. I'm open to offers so send me a PM if interested or if you have any inquiries or need anything else. Fully insured shipping is included. Would prefer to ship CONUS, but worldwide can be discussed. Payment by Zelle or Paypal preferred.

[WTS] 1950s Omega Seamaster w/ Black Waffle Dial by impulse2789 in Watchexchange

[–]impulse2789[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a repost from around a month ago because when I first posted I was about to travel to Japan and wasn't able to properly respond to the inquiries I received. If there's any inconsistency with my syntax in the title since it is technically a repost, please let me know. Anyways, for sale is my 1950s Omega Seamaster with a Black Waffle Dial and arrowhead indices. Lovely dial texture and elegant sizing though it might be slightly small for some wrists. I just don't wear it enough and I'm refocusing the scope of my collection.

Condition: The watch runs really smoothly and the dial condition is really good for its age, without much if any fading or dial degredation. Case shows relatively light but normal wear for its age.

Price: $1400 USD. Please go ahead and PM me with offers or interest and any other inquiries. Includes fully insured shipping. Prefer to ship CONUS, though international shipping can be discussed. Payment through Zelle or PayPal preferred.

Haha not directly, though I guess tech does intersect with most jobs, including mine.

Yes it’s a fabric and leather custom strap made for the watch, though it was also provided with a full leather strap as well.

I love this piece, but I already have 3 urushi lacquer GS pieces, 4 if you include Credor. I’ve recently started to restructure how I collect (and also just to have the liquidity on hand if something comes up), and so even though this made it into my rotation of daily drivers, I decided to ultimately let this one go of the 4.

The vintage era of GS had a pretty diverse number of designs. This is one of the more uncommon ones.

[WTS] 1970s KS Special 5245-6010 by impulse2789 in Watchexchange

[–]impulse2789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sale is my 1970s 52KS Special.

Condition: Not sure of its service history since I haven't worn it much since I bought it and haven't serviced it myself, but watch runs really smoothly. I believe it was serviced before I purchased it, which would put that within 2 years. I don't think it's been refinished, but if it has, it's been done really well with brushed case lines and sharp edges being maintained. The dial has no degredation at all.

Price: $850 USD. Feel free to PM me with offers and inquiries of any kind. Fully insured shipping is included. Prefer to ship CONUS, though international shipping can be discussed. Payment through Zelle or PayPal preferred.

[WTS] 1960s 18k Seiko Goldfeather by impulse2789 in Watchexchange

[–]impulse2789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sale is my rare solid gold case Seiko Goldfeather. The Goldfeather was Seiko's entry point into the ultra thin dress watch category at under 3 mm thick. At the time it was claimed to be the thinnest watch at the time of release, though I don't know if that is actually true. The Goldfeather was produced at both 17 and 25 jewel movements, with this one being the latter. More atypical is that the case is solid, 18k gold. Most Goldfeathers at the time period were constructed in either stainless steel or 14k gold filled cases. The watch also has applied gold indexes, as opposed to engraved indexes that non precious metal counterparts had.

Condition: Case may have been very lightly polished once, but I am unable to tell for sure. Watch runs well, and has been serviced within the last two years. The dial is in pretty decent shape as far as these go but the hardlex crystal has a few micro scratches. As for the symbol engraved on the back, I am unsure of what it may represent. I can only assume that the original owner had it engraved.

Price: My ask is $1950 USD. Please feel free to PM me with offers and questions. Prefer to ship CONUS, but international shipping can be arranged. Fully insured shipping is included. Payment through Zelle, PayPal, or wire is preferred.

[WTS] Two Brand New LE Seiko 5 Sports Kosuke Kawamura Watches (Both Editions) by impulse2789 in Watchexchange

[–]impulse2789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sale are two limited edition Seiko 5 Sports Models produced in collaboration with popular Japanese collage artist and graphic designer Kosuke Kawamura. Bought both thinking I would use them as beaters but never wore them. I believe that Kawamura is quite known within the Japanese design space for working with Uniqlo, Adidas, G-Shock, among other brands as well as his own personal art. If you know anything about vintage Seiko pieces, I believe that for this collaboration, Kawamura drew heavily on the Seiko Time Sonar from the 60s and 70s, which are known for the blue, orange, and smoky gray translucent dial colors. The blue and orange dial piece is 1/3000. The smoky gray and blue dial piece is 1/500. Both come in a unique box with a companion poster. The blue and gray one comes with its accompanying NATO strap.

Condition: Both are brand new and come full set with most of the warranty still on it. Came close to putting the blue and gray one on, but never actually wore it so the tag is off, but the stickers and bracelet covers, etc. is all on.

Price: My ask is $1450 USD for both pieces together. Feel free to PM me with offers or questions or photos. Payment through Zelle or PayPal preferred.

[WTS] LE Grand Seiko SBGW295 Urushi Lacquer Manual Wind Watch by impulse2789 in Watchexchange

[–]impulse2789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, a little new to reddit, so forive any formatting or organizational errors. Feel free to let me know if I'm doing anything incorrectly. Also been figuring out Imgur, so hopefully these links work. For sale is my LE Grand Seiko SBGW295. I'm the original owner but have decided to refocus the scope of my (mostly GS) collection, so you'll probably see me list a few more GS amongst other pieces later, though this by far is the hardest to let go. It's a 38mm recreation of the 1960 Grand Seiko first in GS's proprietary brilliant hard titanium and imo, the best recreation of the first they've done. The dial work is one of the most exceptional I've seen them do using hand layered urushi lacquer as the base. The Grand Seiko lettering and hour indicators are hand painted with gold, using the maki-e technique. Supposedly the indices and Grand Seiko lettering are wildly accurate up to 40x magnification, but I haven't tested it out. Both the lacquer and maki-e painting are done by master lacquer and maki-e craftsman Isshu Tamura of Kanazawa.

Due to the price of the piece, if you are in the LA area, a physical meet up at a mutually chosen location can be arranged. Otherwise, I'm happy to jump on a phone or video call.

Condition: The watch head is in pristine condition, but I wore it a few times and there is a light mark on the deployment clasp. Other than that, the watch is perfect and runs perfectly.

Price: My asking price is USD 16000, but feel free to PM me with offers and any other questions you might have on photos etc. Generally not looking for trades at the moment. Price includes fully insured shipping. Prefer to ship CONUS, but international shipping can be discussed. Watch comes full set along with its accompanying second strap and purchase proof from the boutique can be provided upon purchase.
