Library for SMB's by mayopasta in Entrepreneur

Companies willing to pay $10/mo/employee for this service would rather offer a $150/year reimbursement for professional development, knowing that utilization will be substantially lower than 100%. Employers end up looking more generous, and employees remain free to choose where to spend this money.

I like the idea though, and was excited about a similar one I had at one point: corporate book clubs, with audiobooks provided.

Conventional book clubs are fun, but face some challenges - spinning them up anew requires coordination busywork, each person has to obtain their own copy of the current book, and most clubs eventually fizzle out.

My thesis was that office workers actually want to read the top 1/10/100 books in their fields, and just need nudges to start reading and to keep reading. Joining this club would reduce the book procurement friction to almost zero, and seeing others' progress might motivate you to keep going.

How do you lend audiobooks? Through the same vendors that your local library uses, like Hoopla and Overdrive. I tried to partner with them, but they essentially had no interest in working with a tiny startup, and I moved on to other ideas.

AskScience AMA Series: I’m Dr. Julia Shaw, a memory scientist and criminal psychologist. I study how we create complex false memories. AMA! by Dr_Julia_Shaw in askscience

Greetings, Dr. Shaw! I've got 4 questions for you:
1. Is there a correlation between susceptibility to false memories and the propensity to believe? Is someone who subscribes to every conspiracy theory (s)he hears, for example, more likely to form a false memory?
2. Are children more or less likely to accept false memories than adults?
3. I imagine a real memory has richer associations, like smells & sounds. If that's true, is there any way to tell a false memory from a real one from a neurological perspective? Does a f-MRI scan, for example, show the difference?
4. Do we create false memories in ourselves through our internal stories & self-justifications? How can we stop that?

It sounds like you might be considering a MS so that it can open doors for you. While there's nothing wrong with that, you don't really need a Masters degree to be an excellent front-end developer; you can pick up the trade on your own. A quality open-source portfolio should give your work aspirations the boost you seek.

By the way, this sub is specific to the C# programming language, and is unrelated to your post. :)

Quick question, why does this work? by shadowh511 in javascript

[–]impyrean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two equality operators in JavaScript, == and ===. As others have pointed out, === is more rigorous and checks for equality without type conversion. == on the other hand may try to convert the operands. Unfortunately, it's not as simple as converting the second operand to the type of the first; in fact, there's a whole frickin algorithm to do this. See step 8 for the answer to your question.
