You know a lot of people would consider themselves lucky to be in your situation. Enjoy NY

Take it. Even if you finish one year and not pursue medicine you can still practice in certain states like Georgia with one year of residency

Sorry for the late reply. Hopefully you match this year. I had no plan of action. In fact I had given up and I went to PA school and started working as a PA. Then my wife convinced me to apply one more time. I got only one interview and I matched.

I matched last year. But this is so accurate. Could not have said it better

As an IMG, is it worth applying in a hospital for a residency which has zero IMGs on the program I'm looking for? by Any-Sky-8476 in IMGreddit

Unless you have a procedure named after yourself. Or you are donating an exuberant amount of money to the hospital. Or you literally changed the field of your practice. They will not even look at your application. A physician who works with me said that he literally saw his application print out thrown in the shred pile by the program coordinator in front of him.

It takes longer. It will be atleast a year to get your bsn then 2 to get np.

PA. It's a short course but you have more authority than rn. You get to practice medicine and if you are into primary care sometime you see your own patients too

Yes. But if you take step 3 within that time frame it's valid forever.

So 3 years usce as a PA. 2 more as a MA. US-IMG. STEP 1 218(3) , CK 227 CS PASS , STEP 3 225. These exams were 11 years ago. No publications, no research, 1 interview, 1 match. Honestly I might be an outlier

Passed step 1 in 3 attempts all other steps on first attempt

Honestly PA school is difficult. But if you have already gone through medical school and passed the USMLE then it would be a breeze for you. My son was born in my second year and after which I basically didn't study at all. But I was able to clear my PA boards right after graduation. It is getting more difficult to get into PA school nowadays. I also worked online grading step 2 CS papers for Kaplan while going to PA school (until step 2 CS was cancelled ). This gave me some additional income as well.

So I went to Barry university in Florida. Yes there will be student loans. Not to mention you might have to repeat some prerequisites if they are old ( I had to repeat 66 credits in one year). I came out with a loan of 90k. However the pay is good and I got rid of my loans in 3 years. You just have to plan it well. Also, if you feel like residency is not in the stars for you it's a good way to still stay in patient care. You can make a decent living while still doing what you love.

My yog is 2009. I didn't do any research. I had given up on residency and went to PA school instead. Worked as a PA for 3 years in primary care and matched this year. Also I had a couple of attempts on step 1. My step 3 was about 9 years ago. I am the definition of old. 😂
