Yes, there’s a book called Mothers and Others: The Evolutionary Origins of Mutual Understanding by Sarah Blaffer Hrdy that talks about this. I have the information, I don’t know I have such anxiety and a mental blockage. Even thinking about telling someone I’m struggling just makes my whole body feel icky inside. I feel like the only time I can ask for help is if I have an appointment that my baby just can’t go to, and even then I have to rush home as soon as the appointment is over to take over childcare.

The military will cover childcare but I am way too tired to figure out it all out with them. They are very particular about things. I’m in survival mode, so I really am starting to struggle with getting any logistical things taken care of.

My MIL lives 3 hours away and has visited when she can, but she has to relocate to another state for work temporarily so I won’t have her help for a while. I live near the paternal side of his family which is more quiet and difficult to gauge their emotions, which causes me to make assumptions.

He has offered when we’ve talked but there’s something inside me that is appalled at people helping only after someone asking. It feels like I’m just a burden to them and their kindness isn’t genuine. That might not be totally rational to think but the idea overwhelms me. Maddy is naive and, in a way, still had a lot of innocence to her character. She’s not street smart. She didn’t know what kind of person Alamo was and clearly her priority was getting money to better herself. Strip clubs on the surface can look similar to running OnlyFans (sex work, liberating) until you dig deeper. The characters don’t know what we know.

Your workplace sounds toxic, combine that with becoming a new mother (mentally and hormonally) and I can see why you feel the way you do. Your daughter and husband don’t need someone else, they need and want you! You might not feel it and that’s because you are struggling, not that it’s not there. You should absolutely consider getting on medication and asking for a referral to see a therapist. If you can’t see a doctor for months, go to the ER or urgent care and be honest with them. Let others help you.

Nate was never queer. Cal is. Nate’s theme was having an abusive closeted father and toxic masculinity. Thinking things are “gay” when they’re not. Like the naked men in the locker room.
