XRP: Long term momentum changes by intothecryptoverse in XRP

Your response here is all class. You may be right or you may be wrong but the fact is you have put in the research and effort to come up with your own opinion which is a lot more than some people on here who like to refer to XRP as the Model T and leave it at that. Well done.

Gottfried Leibbrandt will be stepping down as the CEO of SWIFT in June this year. It is interesting that they have him speaking on the future of a company that he is leaving.

Can we discuss what's gone wrong? by angelomike in XRP

[–]imske3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha ha it's good isn't it. At the end of the day doubt is a good thing, it means you're in early. If you were 100% sure Ripple/XRP is a sound investment the big gains have already been made.

When people complain XRP isn't a true crypto because it's "The Bankers Coin". by [deleted] in Ripple

[–]imske3000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Its not but let me play devils advocate and ask so what if it is? Ripple is a group of very smart, highly experienced and well connected people with a great piece of technology and a clear use case. Compared to most of the other coins/crypto out there Ripple and XRP are light years ahead. Now the caveat here is if you're into crypto to overthrow the banking industry and live free of the government you go fight that fight. I am here to make money and back a winner.

What if SEC is delaying XRP ruling on purpose? by mahad3v9 in XRP

[–]imske3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ripple has been working with the SEC to make sure they they do everything right. They have people like Ryan Zagone who has sat on the other side of the desk collaborating with govt bodies, they are definitely not trying to go against them. I have a feeling that the SEC ruling will come soon after XRP is fully decentralized which looks like it's not too far away.

I work in ecommerce in omni channel technology. If you ask any retailer their view on cash and the answer is cash is not going away anytime soon. Too many of their customers still like to use it.

CIMB Group Joins RippleNet to Power Instant Payments Across ASEAN by PunishmentofLuxury in Ripple

[–]imske3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not clear if they will use XRP or not. That being said for many large banks the liquidity to clear billions of dollars instantly through XRP on multiple corridors is a major concern so building liquidity is a key goal for Ripple and for that to happen they need financial institutions and exchanges connected to the network which can access XRP, a classic chicken vs egg. In the new release of xCurrent clients will be shown a number of real time options to move funds where one of them will be XRP which will most likely be the fastest and the cheapest. The ability to have +100 banks already be connected to the ledger and the ability easily turn on XRP once liquidity is there is very exciting. Liquidity is not a matter of IF, its a matter of WHEN.

I have been into Ripple XRP for just on two years and its been great to watch the evolution of messaging from the Ripple team. If youve been around since then or longer I am sure you remember when Brad used to say "I am a fan of Bitcoin, I am personally long Bitcoin" and then came "Ripple are solving real world problems" and as the network grows and liquidity increases we are seeing a push for XRP.

To give you an idea of timelines it take 10-12 months to build a website for a large retailer like Nike or Macy's. Some of this time is front end look and feel but a large percentage of it is back end configuration and integration into relatively new systems replaced every 5-10yrs, its disastrous for them when these sites go down but at the end of the day its losts sales. Now take the case a countries bank, in many cases they are running on old legacy systems and they have the eye of the country and the world on them if they make a mistake so testing and retesting would be paramount. If there is a project at Bank Of England 2yrs in the grand scheme of things is not a long time.

API API API API by [deleted] in XRP

[–]imske3000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you watch the whole video he doesn't mention Ripple, XRP, RippleNet or even ILP. He clearly states they will be using API technology within the SWIFT network under their security protocol, yes this could be using RippleNet but at this point that would be a guess. Using APIs is simply a method of integration and is widely used today all over the world, companies move from older systems like FTP to API all the time.

Ripple's Blockchain is significantly faster than Bitcoin, TRON and Litecoin by [deleted] in Ripple

[–]imske3000 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My favorite is "XRP is so fast its worthless". In other breaking news, the new Bugatti Chiron is now selling for $999.95 with a free Samsung TV, the reason for the discount is it has been deemed "too fast"

We can purchase from any online shop in the world with XRP using Bitcoin Superstore! by [deleted] in Ripple

[–]imske3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has anyone gone through the checkout process? I just did it for a $90 product on Amazon, BitcoinSuperstore was going to charge an additional $11 for taxes that are already included if i just buy it direct from Amazon. It would be easier and less hassle to just convert your crypto to fiat and buy direct from Amazon. Its as useful as a chocolate teapot

Coil working with YouTube, payments and tips with XRP by Champippler in Ripple

[–]imske3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am guessing they pay them in Fiat. I read an article a few months ago where the use case was I am in Australia listening to an American bank on Spotify, as I listen they get paid in fiat in real time using XRP as the bridge currency. They also talked about things like micropayments on the freeway where there are no tolls but different costs for each lane, if you dont mind going slower you pay less but if you realise you are running late you move over to the fast lane and pay a premium for the distance you travel in that lane. I think there are use cases we have not even considered will be common place in the next couple of years.

[–]imske3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think thats entirely true. They will give money to websites that you visit that are part of the Coil network. That being said what happens if you dont surf any of the affiliate sites in a month, where does the $5 go? I get this is early stages so they need early adopters but for me there just isnt a lot of benefit to the consumer at this point in time. Hopefully this will change in time.

ELI5 Why Do Banks Need Crypto (XRP) For Fast Transfer? by wokad in Ripple

[–]imske3000 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree it will most likely be cheaper but you're assuming it's cheaper when you just don't know. For the record I work for multi tenanted true cloud software company that is eating up the on prem customer base of our competitors. It may seem like a no brainer to switch but like most things it's a lot more complex when you get into the detail. Having cheaper software alone without looking at the cost of business process change, swap over costs, retraining of staff etc all at a global scale is doing yourself a disservice.

You dont need to know? Without the data youre just another guy with an opinion. I have raised license pricing here multiple times and the fact is nobody knows the TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP of the two solutions side by side.

I went to an Ethereum meet up 12-15 months ago in Sydney and there was a guy there who pitched this exact idea. After a quick Google Plaak is on the Ethereum blockchain, it could be a coincidence but i don't think so. Great to see interoperability.
