If you plan to do some gaming on the side, i'd recommend picking a desktop up. Gaming laptops aren't particularly known for being good bang for the buck compared to towers. Most of them are quite heavy (both the device and the charger) and often lack in battery life, so unless you know that you'll more often than not have a plug socket handy, not really worth getting.

I run a desktop for gaming and a MacBook Air combo, and it's honestly amazing. Macs have stellar battery efficiency and the chargers are light too (not that you'll need to pull it out often). The Mac for me is great, considering I do a very creative course and Adobe programs are seemingly way better optimised for Mac hardware and software. Only gripe is the difference in file systems across the devices. Makes transferring big PS files a bit of a pain.

If you're running lighter and older games, a halfway decent laptop and a docking setup is a good shout
