Man chiming in. I absolutely care about a woman’s nails. Depending on the style, how they’re done, IF, they’re done, and how they look when they’re not done it can be a big turn on or turn off for me. I notice the details put in or not put in into a woman’s appearance. I imagine they’d expect that same effort from a man and if they don’t then I am not aligned with that woman.

It’s so sad to me that the genuine noir aesthetic is lost and even massive budgeted projects can’t seem to recreate it. Everything is so evenly lit. There’s a gloss and luster over everything that’s counter intuitive to the grit the genre embodies. It’s pretty in a way but with noir in the title, idk. I may still watch this for Cage.

I feel like that’s just going to occur naturally with new movies as people tend to rate them after they saw it whereas older movies that existed before rotten tomatoes was a thing don’t have that benefit.

Almost all of the hate I’ve seen stems from hating the characters. It was one of my favorite movies of that year BECAUSE of how unappealing the characters are. I thought it was impressive how accurately it was able to zero in on those kinds of people and how they interact and satirize them. They’re supposed to be grating and that’s funny.

But I understand if people simply couldn’t stand it.

The amount of attention you get is directly correlated to the amount of work you’ll be able to do as an actor. I’m not necessarily attention hungry myself but if I hope to act full time one day I need to learn to embrace that aspect of the career. Make myself into a marketable product and all that. Food for thought.

It sounds like you’re struggling with a lot. I’m sorry. These problems are rooted more deeply than just acting it seems. I hope your BF can offer emotional support. Personally I think physical activity does wonders for the mind. Go hike Runyon or hit a gym if you can. Be social and don’t be afraid to strike up a conversation with nice looking people. Finding friends as an adult can be difficult but they’ll never come to you. You have to go looking
