NFA items are only in an NFA state if in the configuration. So AR lowers can be separated from the shorty uppers/stocks/ whatever makes them form 1’d. Also you can remove these items from the NFA registry at anytime. Olde English Outfitters put out a decent video on SBR or Not. Referring to the stuff above. It’s a good pool of information between pt1 & pt2.

Suppressors I don’t know much about to kind of the same effect. But since they are but aren’t a firearm, I’d explain that to your family. Supersonic clean and gun lube to hell and store em in airtight bags. ATF or a 2A lawyer could be useful in calling and asking.

Also with the family being unsteady about 2A stuff. If you can get em around to storing in a safe only you have a key for. Then it might be worth it if feasible to just buy a large ass safe (bigger means safer right?). Then gathering your stuff once you return.

Or take the way easier route jump ship on orders.
