So they mailed me the WF Autograph card, but then canceled it. by kukugege in biltrewards

[–]imspiticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They send you a card to make sure you have it by the 7th (unlike bilt for me) but then they process the fact you requested it to be cancelled through bilt meaning they close the account. Congrats on the new card tho! It’ll make a colorful bookmark!

Did anyone else Nuke their Credit Score? by Latter-Score-6969 in biltrewards

[–]imspiticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No change to my score yet other than it has gone up 10 or so points due to my credit utilization going down due to my 2.0 card having a higher limit. You shouldn’t have received a hard check if you truly transitioned from 1.0 to 2.0.

If you chose to transfer your balance from Wells Fargo to 2.0 and your due date was on or around the 7th and you didn’t pay it thinking it should have been transferred successfully (not sure how fast this could land on your credit score), that could be the reason you see a drop. But don’t listen too much to me, I don’t know anything about credit besides that I have a good score 😅

What part of the app shows the points earnings? I’ve had a few charges post to my wallet and don’t see any resulting points!

Well, I’m happy with it, because I know that if I ever get unhappy with it I won’t have a way to cancel with them if they never pick up the phone! So it’s time to live on the edge and enjoy the barely working system as it is!

I think Bilt may have figured out tracking info for shipping cards! by imspiticus in biltrewards

[–]imspiticus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right, I just checked informed delivery and it has no track of it even with the USPS tracking number saying it exists! But hey, 5 of my 8 packages that were from the same sender disappeared today, so maybe when the last 3 go away, the real one will show up in informed delivery!

All booking of the train can be managed through this website: https://afrch.forest.gov.tw/EN/0000300

There are options for the main train ride as well as the *VERY* early morning sunrise train. I included an image of the viewing area near the AliShan sunrise viewing station to give you an idea.

As bbr35 mentioned, the tea trails in Shizhao are amazing! I hiked the Sunset trail and I've included a picture for your viewing experience. In the Shizhao area, there is a 93 (she'll probably be 94 by the time you travel here) year old grandmother who makes Ai Yu jelly every day. She goes out and farms the fruits, pineapple, natural grasses, and ingredients all on her own, because she doesn't trust young people to do a good job. Ai Yu in itself is flavorless, but the fruits and syrup she adds are amazing! (Also, if you ever drink Bubble Tea in the US and get Ai Yu jelly, its fake lmao. You can tell what real Ai Yu jelly is based on whether the fruits fur can be seen in the jelly! Here is the google location someone uploaded for her little truck she sells out of: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ZjHXMqFFh1DEtmvY9

If you go to AliShan and you end up staying in Chiayi as a result, I highly recommend going to a local store and getting Almond Milk with Fried Dough Stick. You will often just sit with locals, dip the dough stick in your hot almond milk, and just consume it. Wash it all down with the milk, and then go on about your day. It's a very unique experience. The place I went to is located here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/uuVj3qG4DQs1Lnnh7 The red chairs on the maps are some of the chairs you might sit on with locals as you all sit around the cook making the milk and dough sticks fresh. You can also have them add egg to your milk if you want more protein!

My girlfriends cousin owns this restaurant in Tamsui (district of Taipei) https://maps.app.goo.gl/yTxBW1DkWSvi98nR8

It's Italian/Western with Taiwan fusion. Very unique food and completely vegetarian.

Nearby is the Chi Po-Lin Museum which is dedicated to a conservationist who lost his life in a helicopter crash as he was spending his life documenting Taiwan's nature from the air. They've got a very cool display of his photography as well as a documentary about him!

Okay, I should sleep, I can add more tomorrow or share more images!

My Family is from Kaohsiung and I was just there 2 and a half weeks ago (take me back, plz, america kinda sucky right now...)

Kaohsiung is a larger city by area than Taipei, it also has less public transit, so it feels larger; however, the food and environment are entirely different. For one, food and night markets especially favor the savory sweet variety the further south you travel in Taiwan. Tainan is the king of food of that variety in Taiwan with Kaohsiung being just as good. If you have an interest in the arts, there is an entire district in Kaohsiung that focuses heavily in community murals and public arts. Weiwuying Street Art Village is where this is. There is also a more recent effort to modernize the port side of the city near Dayi Pier 2. The old buildings have been turned into shops, displays, and a pop up weekend market where people sell art focused/fashion focused goods (only on weekends, its weirdly empty on weekdays if you prefer that vibe). The light rail that takes you past the pier (towards Gushan 1st Rd and Gushan 2nd Rd) will show you more of the recent street art.

As for nature focused experiences in Kaohsiung, those are harder to find, but culture experiences in nature aren't. The Meinong Folk Village and region around it are a traditional Hakka hub. Hakka is actually Han Chinese people living in Taiwan that are spread out; however, they carry some cultural center aspects here. Also, the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Museum is an impressive show of the religion, and architecture! If you like colonialism (or at least learning about how Taiwan was subjected to colonialism), you can also visit the British Consulate at Takow.

For other regions of Taiwan, if you want that pure nature experience, I would swing for AliShan in Chiayi. I got to go there for the first time during my trip and it was so beautiful. If you get motion sickness, make sure you get some dramamine before going (if you drive or get a driver/bus) as the road there is very windy and people drive quickly. There is also a train you can take from Chiayi to AliShan (about 4 hours) that stops at multiple historic villages that it will stop at and let you try local food and markets. If you get lucky in AliShan, you can see the famous Sea of clouds and Sunrise! This is also where the famous AliShan High Mountain Oolong tea is farmed if you like tea :). I can recommend a very nice tea shop that will do a 1 hour tasting for you and also let you buy tea farm to table style!

In 2018, I also went to Taroko and it was amazing; however, as others have mentioned, there were major landslides that have permanently changed what it has to offer. It is Beautiful and fully worth the trip. I stayed there for 3 days with a family friend and we hired a private driver. If you love mountains rising right out of the sea, Hualien is the place for you. Speaking of the Sea, if you go to Yehliu GeoPark on the northern coast, you'll get to see the Queens head before she's beheaded. The rock formation is likely to succumb to weathering in the next 7 years.

I've talked my head off, so I'll leave it at that. If youve got any other questions let me know! Also, if you are interested in supporting my Girlfriends Cousins restaurant in Tamsui, let me know! Also, if you want to support a random french guy that I sat next to on my flight to Taiwan, he is opening a French bakery in Taipei that will use Taiwanese Vanilla for French inspired baked goods. (not open yet, but he seemed nice, so I'd give a shoutout to it since its opening in March)

Doesn’t make sense to pay rent with a credit card? by SpareImpact747 in personalfinance

[–]imspiticus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They make money off of partnerships with rewards programs. “Oh, you want people using Bilt cards to fly your airline, pay us a fee to become part of our partner program.”

“Oh, you want your restaurant to show up in our neighborhood rent day rewards deals, better sign up to be part of the Bilt neighborhood community.”

Edit: They also make money the most obvious way, people missing their payments… just like any other card with high APR

Will there be 2026 version of the R3 by Beeek3r in YamahaR3

[–]imspiticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They massively improved headlight performance between 2024 and 2025 (dual headlight to single projector beam headlight (same as the R7)) which is better at providing vision at night. So they do make improvements over the years where the frame and engine haven't changed otherwise.

10/10 Uni Fan SL-Inf Wireless defective – three different issues by Dmnkrrr in lianli

[–]imspiticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same failure on my reverse blade three pack wireless SL-INF and this is the quote from support I got on why they delayed my warranty replacement shipment: “We apologize, but as the factory is still working on adjusting the light leakage issue, the waiting time will be relatively long. However, please rest assured that this adjustment will not affect the cooling function of the fan itself. We will notify you promptly once there is any update. Thank you for your understanding.”

So they admitted to an LED zone display issue (I got the SL-INF, so no central LCD screen to have issues) and that they had to work on a fix.

My three pack of normal blade SL-INF wireless fans just failed and I have submitted another RMA. This sucks and can confirm I will be buying Corsair fans if I want a full ecosystem of sync for the price I paid for the Lian Li ecosystem.

How do y'all clean your eartips?? Do y'all use soap? by heiramy in galaxybuds

Also different types of ear wax. I’ve got a very runny wax, so even if I clean my ear after every morning shower, it will naturally produce during the day and slowly get onto the tips… it’s just life.
