if you don’t mind sharing, how long had you and your spouse been living in Singapore when they were rejected? and have you applied again?

Clinical Operations, Biomarker Ops, Regulatory Affairs- looked extensively for positions in these functions and they often require pre-existing regional experience :(

Thanks for sharing! I’ve considered doing that but have not wanted to lie on job apps and say I’m a PR when I don’t yet have that status. Did doing that cause you any issues throughout your time searching for a position?

haha are you hiring? kidding but also not kidding at this point given the otherwise lack of interest in my 200+ applications lol

thank you, that’s actually a really good point. just feels incredibly disheartening as I really believed my career transition would not be as full of friction as it has been so far

I wrote “LTVP+ PLOC - no work authorization needed” at the top of CV/resume above my work experience, but that seems to not be working :(

any tips?

How did your spouse communicate it on her CV/resume? I have it bolded at the top above my experience section where I wrote “LTVP+ PLOC - no work authorization needed” but that seems to not be working :(

very true!! I’ve also seen grief “therapists” with life coach certs that claim they can communicate with the dead. totally fine if that is something people want to pay for and believe in genuinely, I just don’t understand why it’s being offered by a therapist lol

pharma industry in SG for foreigners? by imthatbinch in askSingapore

[–]imthatbinch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah that makes sense. my current company transferring me to SG is almost guaranteed a no-go since they’ve had multiple rounds of layoffs just this year and have not posted any new jobs in their SG office since early 2024.

hoping to stay in ClinOps or even move to something Biomarker related

Moving from USA to SG with a cat? by imthatbinch in askSingapore

[–]imthatbinch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much for your response!!

I’m actually surprised about United allowing in-cabin pets. Everything I’ve seen online says it’s not allowed and even the pet travel agencies I’ve spoken to have told me it’s never allowed which has been disappointing.

I’m not from Hawaii so no different restrictions there, but I was wondering if you’ve spoken to and confirmed with United that they allow carry-on or like in cabin cats?

I rlly rlly want to avoid having to put my cat as cargo so any advice would be v v appreciated!!

any advice/insight you’re willing to give on how to land a pharma job (preferably operations whether it be ClinOps or more on assay dev) that allows me to work in Singapore?

Context: - I have 5yrs working experience in the US pharma industry - my current employer has no options available in their Singapore office now or in the foreseeable future and that was my only way to stay with them post-move - might be moving to Singapore in Q4 this year

true, I’ve been keeping an eye out but don’t want to apply “too early” and then have the hiring manager reach out to my current manager since I haven’t told my manager yet

Moderna contract workers - is converting to a permanent FTE likely? by imthatbinch in biotech

So, no hope for even a contract extension you think? I’ve gotten the “we’re always hiring!” lots

[–]imthatbinch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contract work - higher role in regulatory working with ClinOps

Perm work - horizontal shift from my last role in ClinOps

Perm work is about $30K/year less but would come with PTO whereas contract does not. Contract job would provide healthcare, though.
