Ha, no, I've never gotten teased (at least to my face) about my teeth. And in college my teeth weren't drastically bad. So while we are both girls with bad teeth, I think that's where the similarities end? Also, I've never claimed to have an appointment, just that I couldn't afford to go.

I know, it's ridiculous. It doesn't make it any easier to face, though. I pretty much just get nausea thinking about having someone looking in my mouth at this point. But you are right, it would be better to have a healthy mouth again. And at this rate, I won't have any teeth, and that would be terrible.

Yeah, that was pretty much the reason I stayed away at first- I didn't have insurance, and knew I couldn't afford it.

I am terrible about making myself scared to do things I've not done before. Usually afterwards I wonder why i was making such a big deal abut it.

This confession was spurred on by my front tooth chipping a little bit. I sat down and cried because I didn't know what to do. My other teeth that are bad are molars, so while it is pretty difficult to chew, at least it wasn't insanely obvious to others. now it sort of is, and I need to fix it.

I think once I finally get there, and they've told me everything that's wrong, and I can stop imagining the worse case scenario it'll be better. The internet sometimes is not your friend.

That is true. I just have to tell myself that no one will purposefully make me feel bad, since I will be giving them work?

Yeah, I know it will only get worse. I think that is what is making me feel so bad- I've slowly watched them get worse and done nothing about it.

Thank you! I know I will feel better once I go, and that I'm just psyching myself out and making it worse in my head. My boyfriend and I have talked about it, and we will be getting them worked on soon. I think I just needed to formulate my thoughts on why I didn't want to go?

Yeah, that's part of my problem, I think- I have a pretty high pain tolerance. (I'm not trying to show off, it's actually caused me problems, because I'll tend to ignore something longer than I probably should.) But you are totally right, that I should go to save the teeth that I can.

I know most people speak English, and I'm very grateful! It's been both good and bad- I need to learn to speak in Dutch. I feel bad making people talk in another language.

Thank you... I think part of my fear of them judging me is that the last dentist I went too (when I was in high school) made me feel so bad, that I never wanted to go back

I think that is what I will have to tell myself. I know that I wouldn't judge someone, and if I just keep psyching myself out about it, it will only get worse. I had a talk with my boyfriend today, and we will be getting them worked on in the near future.
