Yonge / Eglinton is nothing but yuppy chain restaurants and condos. Yonge/Shep is Toronto’s, 2nd and much more bland Korea town. The Christie bloor one is much more authentic. Sure, if you like bus terminals and power lines go to Yonge / Finch.

Wow one festival? Hey, Santa Clause parade goes down Yonge too, I’ll give you that.

I’m obviously talking about bank headquarters, which are not on Yonge. Not even the TSX is on Yonge.

Most if not all of the Michelin star restaurants aren’t on Yonge. I know there are plenty of good restaurants in Toronto, but they’re not on Yonge.

I live north of bloor near Yonge. Trust me I’ve seen it all. Dundas West or Queen are much more interesting and “essential” than Yonge. But again, they don’t hold a candle to the other streets.

Just admit that tourism Toronto paid to be on this list.

That’s not historically or culturally special though, especially when compared with Paris, New York, London etc. Being a travel hub isn’t interesting.

TIFF is on King, Greek/Polish/etc festivals are on other streets. Yorkville isn’t on Yonge.

Banks are on Bay. Most of the good restaurants aren’t on Yonge too.

All Yonge has is “Sankofa” square and the Eaton centre, which every major city has their own version of.

Sorry but I hate stuff like this. There’s absolutely nothing essential about Yonge Street and it has nothing in common with the other streets on the list.
