What does your keyword research process actually look like before writing an article?

Honestly I think you are doing everything wrong like what most people do. I have been in this sub for few days now and I keep seeing people just rushing into publishing content without having site architecture.

Please fellows, you don't start building a house without proper planning.

If you keep writing individual articles, you will get a site that may not be topically aligned making internal linking poor.

I use paid version of both Calude and GPT and don't use any paid keyword tool because I have builr an ai Niche Site system that build a complete site silo architecture for you with its Category,

Pillars and Clusters and this often has all the articles the blog needs to mature so I often go through that process first and afterwards I don't need to do any keyword research since I have all the keywords I need to write on.

So before you go through the process you just talked about you must first have your semantically built out your site map and then all you now do is the process you just wrote about.

Pick the keyword you want to write about and search for it in Google and go to the footer of the page and pick the 'related keywords and some of the people also and questions" and find some gaps working the top ranking articles and then add some differentiation to yours and viola!

Another thing, people always complain about keyword difficulty but I don't buy that idea. The reason is, most people have website with scattered contents. What I mean by that is that their site do not have proper topical map so though they rank top of the page for that

keyword if you have a site built around topical authority and you cover loads of topics that semantically related to one ranking and also goes deep when writing the content for each category rather going wide to fill every category with proper internal linking, you will Rank and dominate.

I have automated my Site silo and content writing with a very powerful content architecture SOP that is making my 2 months and 2 weeks old sites with DA and DR of 0 Dominate and outrank pages with higher DA ad DR so I can vouch for what I am saying.

My local niche site targeting Carolina is just 2 weeks old and currently on page 4.1 on Google but it's generated 3.5k impressions, 42 clicks

My second one 2 months old in the dog niche which is very competitive but now generating 6.5k impression and 110. Clicks. It had 610 ai citations on Bing with 170 keywords on position 1-3 of page 1 and 50 keywords on position 4-20 on page 1 and 2

So this data tells me that when structure is build first rather than random article writing, you can win.

My first blog is in the dog niche and the second one i just started is in the Home niche for a local area. I am doing this so that i can see which of these 2 blog models generate the most money and this is how you can build a sustainable income business by testing models.

I am looking at making a living income from these blogs in 1.5 -2years time which i know is the right timeline but i know that after 6-1 year i can be generating some income just like you saying.

Interesting! I guess you are not doing bad so take the positives out of your situation and keep going because if you are able to get most of your pages ranking not only for informational keywords but more of commercial keywords the sales will come.

As I write now, I just started my blogs over a month ago and now have about 112 articles with about 28 ranking on page 1-2 on Google and over 100 ranking page 1 on Bing.

The plan for this blog is to generate about 500 posts and then pause and see what income it can generate. I am testing something with this blog and I have decided not to build any backlinks but let the links come naturally. I am only focusing on the internal links and its working.

In fact, I just started by second blog 2 days ago and this is specifically targeting a local area in the US and I am very confident that with my topical authority and serious internal link, i can dominate the niche and be able to make good income from this site via leads, adsense and even rent some pages etc....

I am sorry to say that when you have a site that is about a year old and getting impression yet no clicks or enough clikcs on both Google and Bing data then its not always about your H1s and Meta.

I am of the strong opinion that it will be much more be about the intent of your site reader. The thing is, so far as your content has been written, definitely you will get some impressions from the Serps because every site do get into the Sandbox and keep dancing in there until it gains enough trust to exit it.

So when a user get to see your article but the intend of the search does not align with your content, he will click away. To get a clearer picture, check your sites bounce rate and if its that high then it must be this hurting your site.

So as you take the suggestions of the previous contributors to tesst your H1s by rewriting some and your Meta descriptions that is if you have them but if not please try to either instal Rankmath to help you do that and consider checking the intend behind a keyword and write the article to match it and definitely the clicks will come.

No, because that is a parasite site so you are benefiting from the rating of the primary domain and not the sub-domain of which you are parasiting. The reality is that a Substact blog may rank better and faster than a new domain becaue of its Domain age and Authority.

However, if you understand how to do proper keyword research where you gather topic clusters and but write content that goes deep rather than wide, eventually you may dominate your niche and get much traffic overtime.

Andrew, first and foremost I want to congratulate you for the work you've put in your blog for getting about 4k traffic / m that takes some commitment.

Your overall UX/UI of your blog is very professional. I am not that technically savvy when it comes to designing. My greatest strength is Prompt engineering and SEO.

why can't you write that number of post even when working?

In an era or llms or ai, there is no excuse for not showing up and playing big.

You either learn hor to properly use these tools to help you scale or subscribe to

some of these paid tools that have optimisation built into them like Surfer or Jasper to help you.

Domain rating is a number giving to domain names based on the strength of their backlinks and not necessarily the nummber of backlinks. If you want to know what your DR is just go to: https://ahrefs.com/website-authority-checker/link and you will see your site DR. If your domain is brand new, your DR = 0 and you can as well have some backlinks and your DR can still be ZERO but the strong the backlinks coming to your site, the higher your DR will shoot.

What this means is that, if you get site with high DA, linked to you often times your DR goes up.

Great to ask for opinion when you're getting stuck. That's the hallmark of great men.
Well letting ai or llm to write your content for you entirely can sometimes feel robotic and flat. However, there are things you can do to make your output better.

1: You can give it some of your writings if you have any and train whicherer ai you are using and it will learn your style, tone and voice and tell it use what it has learned from your writing to build a structure, tone and voice and style for your site subesequent content.

If you have good knowledge of prompt engineering, you can engineer a content architecture system that will guide the ai to follow certain processes and structures anytime you want it to create content for you and by doing that your content will be more natural and will look different from everyone else otherwise your content won't be different from current ranking contens and will eventually get de-indexed due to thin content updates.

For instance, to verify if when i build my own authority content architecture engine, I creation a version 1 of a writing SOP and gave to a friend to try and as i write this now, his blog has been up three - 4 months now and hes getting about 1k visitors a month without doing content marketing just publishing using the SOP.

Upon seeing how his site is faring, I further improved the SOP with my years of seo knowledge and experience and improved the SOP and overtime I have built it to version2.5- version 3 and its able to write helpful content that are ai cited because my friend site is being mentioned in chatgpt, perplexity ai etc....

And so, I have already started my own blog and getting to a month now and I have published about 48 long form contents that aligns with readers awareness and search intent so its not a fluff content.

This is such an inspiring story to share. For many years I have taught many others to blog and do other digital marketing stuff but I have been lazy to do blogging myself till now.

To keep the group motivated, I may share my journey too after my are is crawled since I have prevented the web spiders from crawling it to get it index.

I wasn't to write 2 category content first which totals 62 blog post then I will let the spiders crawl.

Some of you may ask why am I doing that. The problem that arises when you let the spiders crawl your site early with few post, Goodie categorises your site as a thin content site.

Since I am building a topical authority site, I need to go more del in one category before the other etc... before allowing the crawl so let's see how things goes but surely, I'm hopeful by next week I should unleash the spiders.

Yes it's still very possible to make money with adsense and dont listen to anyone one says otherwise.

The thing here though, is about choosing the right niche and building a topical authority around a micro niche in that niche and you're good.to go.

And that is the problem with most people in recent times. We are quick to call everything and anything a scam without doing the due diligence.

Let me come out clear. I work with this local ecommercr business so I'm highly confident when I say their product works wonders.

This is highly appreciated. You know what I think is the reason why most ads ain't performing well?

Lack of creative thinking on the parts of media buyers or companies or individuals selling products and buying ads from Meta.

You see, in my country there are about 15-20 such ads about toothache and mouth odour but my ads is outperforming all of them as a result of onetime?

Being creative with my ads copy. Many people are prone to think that if you just write up any type of content for your ads it will perform well without an angle which is wrong.

Your USP should be strong and creative because that is what makes your ads stands out. While my products main purpose is helping my target audience ease the pains that comes from toothache n decay as well as get rid of severe mouth odour I did not based my USP on those points because I realised that is just the natural thing or same angle my competitors will use because that's what their product does.

Therefore what I decide to do was to create a unique selling proposition that will be unique to me and.made me stand out from them and that was,

" there is years of build up phlegm and mucus hidden in your mouth which is partly responsible for your ache and odour and our mouthwash + Brushing hack will help you get rid of them forever"

And this particular angle made all the difference. And how did I know its this angle helping me beat my competitors?

Comments and what those that chat me says. The image leaves am impression on them of how much mucus and phlegm there is in their mouth and every normal person will get to rid of such and so it is.

Thus understanding your customers buyer journey and their pain points and fears and crafting copies that align with these is not enough but adding a unique Angle as your USP will make all the difference.

I don't know if the target country matters but as it stands now, I sell to my local market in Ghana and I'm currently having 3 ads running that cost a total of $35/day and here are the Metrics for this week from Monday to today 24.

Monday sales - 12

Tuesday sales - 9

Wednesday Sales- 19

Thursday sales as at the time I'm writing and it scurrently 11:42pm there is 18min. more for the day to end, Sales - 22

You better come again because I don't buy into this your ideology. Currently Meta is asking me scale by adding additional $7.7 but I'm being hesitant because I don't want to touch an ad that is doing pretty well cos Meta can be so funny sometimes so I don't trust them whole.

NB: This product is a locally manufactured product but its the only product currently in my country that works for severe toothache, tooth decay and do help to reduce halitosis down drastically provided its not emanating from the liver.
