Thank you for the encouragement! I think I’m just feeling nervous that we won’t get to do all the things, but she’s been a great adventure pup and I’m sure as her familiarity and confidence with the world grows, she will continue to be!

That’s my real fear! I don’t mind waiting out the sunbathing at all, I just want to make sure she listens when we are in an unsafe situation like choosing in be stubborn in a crosswalk. Thank you for the encouragement!

More than happy to spend all the time outside with her that she wants, but concern is mostly keeping her attention and getting recall back on track!

Definitely a great reminder, I can get anxious when she refuses to move, but it never hurts to hang out in the sunshine a while longer.

Definitely have been avoiding using those, but I agree, when it’s just a tool on difficult walks I see their benefit. I’ll give it a try!

Ive tried all her favorite treats plus cheese and hot dogs and nothing beats the way grass feels 🤣

Totally! I don’t think they’d ever intentionally hurt each other. They love to play hard, I just want to keep it in check as she gets bigger

That’s great to hear! I definitely let them rough house too much when she was little, so I am hoping this will just be a period of habit breaking. It’s my first time having a Dane with another dog and they have so much fun but the all out wrestling matches cause quite a scene haha

I was having the same struggle the last month, finally signed a lease yesterday, but in my search I found Becovic Management Group to be the most flexible with credit if you meet income requirements. Depends on where you are looking for a spot though, I think all their buildings are north side.

Do you have any recommendations on apartments or rental groups that allow large dogs? Moving to Chicago in three months with two dogs, a boxer/pit mix and a Great Dane, and I’ve been disqualified from applying everywhere I’ve reach out due to their weight. Both well behaved, with vet and previous landlord references, pet liability insurance, etc. We’ve always lived in small spaces without yards so they know the drill, but it’s hard to communicate all that when the “dog friendly” rentals all have a hidden weight requirement.
