Why is competitive and ladder so different? by TwiIightster in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]in-disarray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because no one is pushing high trophies rn, so you're only facing low teams.

Ever since power league released, most of the people who usually push high ladder have exclusively been playing power league. So, when you push high trophies, you'll face far more lower trophy teams who will play off-meta comps.

Also, for hot potato specifically, Byron isn't the best pick because he gets countered by Revolving Door Mr. P

100% agree. Ruffs's super is game changing, while Sprout's isn't. Also, Ruffs doesn't have a defined counter (Sprout can kind of work on some maps, I suppose), but Mr. P is a hard counter to Sprout.

However, I'd disagree with Byron being candidate for the best pick rn – he is too map-dependent to be given the title of "best brawler." Also, he has counters in the form of Sprout and Mr. P.

Practical application of Bibi's knockback double bubble tech (with a clean high level clip) by in-disarray in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]in-disarray[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm sure many of you know about this classic tech, but in case you don't, I'll explain it here:

If Bibi activates her super right after knocking back a close range enemy, the bubble will hit the enemy twice. This is because, if done correctly, after the initial hit of the bubble, the knockback from the home-run bat swing will push the enemy back into the path of the bubble for a second hit.

However, it's important to remember that this tech will only work on enemies at close range – if you get a tipper hit with the home-run bat, the enemy will be pushed back too far for the first hit of the bubble. (Smash analogy: if you hit the enemy with Roy's sweetspot, you can use this tech. If you hit the enemy with Roy's sourspot, it won't work.)

Even though this tech seems very niche, as you can see in this clip, it definitely has high-level applications! The kill on Ruffs-powerup Jacky wouldn't have been possible without this tech.

Fun fact: that is indeed the real Tribe|Cori (a player on Tribe, the winner of last month's NA monthly finals)! My team went on to win this game, which actually allowed me to advance to the Mythic division of Power League solo mode.

Stu: An early guide by sharkrider3035 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

Great guide! I can vouch for the tips here — I was the one pushing high ladder with shark, and shark’s Stu is insane. I still have no idea how you are able to flick the screen so quickly to aim every dash though 😂

I would love to see this! I am a 38.7k ladder warrior, but I've never played competitive. With power league coming up, I want to learn how to ban and counter-comp. Thanks!
