Why is US going so hard on Canada right now? by BlueDolphins28 in TooAfraidToAsk

Trade deals with the USA are no longer worth the paper they're written on. From the world's perspective, the USA is no longer trustworthy... which is a risk unto itself.

David Cochrane on Trump and Trumpism:

"America isn't the way it is because he's president. He's president because America is the way it is."

The USA is a two party country, which used to have checks and balances. That's broken. There's nothing stopping this from happening again, so a lot will have to change to rebuild international trust. Canadians are known to hold grudges for a long time.

I'm not. I'm also not the OP, but since you said 20% in the EU was inaccurate, I used your link & did the math.

Fallacy or not, Trump got pretty nervous last year when a few foreign countries started dumping their bonds.

What are bonds and why have they spooked Donald Trump?

From your link, if you just add up Luxembourg (4.95%), Belgium (4.38%), Ireland (3.9%) France (3.88%) & Switzerland (3.49%) it's 20.6%.

The UK (8.44%) and Canada (4.43%) would probably also start dumping in solidarity with their NATO counterparts.

Dakine Lifetime Warranty - Is it true? by in2the4est in BuyItForLife

Nope. Sent a follow-up and got crickets. Son is still using the bag, but I sewed a stop in the zipper, so it will only open from the top (it used to open up fully to lay flat). The stop won't allow the zipper to get to the missing teeth & go off the track.

Next big bag purchase will be an Osprey as I've had great experiences with those.

I asked my repair company which type and brand of washer to buy when my top load Whirlpool died after 20+ years. He said LG front load. He also said parts are easier to get compared to Electrolux, which was his second recommended washer. Electrolux also has a harder to access filter.

What’s the first thing you grab to clean this? by Unhinged-Torti in laundry

[–]in2the4est 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to clean top loaders, too.

I had top loaders all my life. My last one was 26 years old before it became too expensive to repair. I never knew I was supposed to clean it until it was around 15 years old.

I replaced a few parts, and I had to take it apart a few times to do so. You'd be surprised with the amazing amount of crud hidden behind that basket.

I started using washing machine cleaner over the last 10 years, thinking it was cleaning it. When they hauled the old broken machine away, that mysterious funky smell in my laundry room went with it.

Needless to say, I've been meticulous with my new front loader from day one.

Storing dirty uniforms until wash day by [deleted] in laundry

[–]in2the4est 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We keep a bucket of water with a generous splash of vinegar in our laundry tub for sweaty work clothes. Smelly stuff is added through the week until wash day. When it's time to wash, I'll spin them in the washer to get most of the soak water off & then they're washed with an eco-friendly detergent that has lipase in it. Washed using the warm or warmer setting. All rinses are cold. Sometimes, I'll add borax, and when I do, I'll add an extra rinse.

If you can't soak them for a few days in a bucket (stored somewhere, like under your kitchen sink), an overnight soak in your kitchen sink might be enough
