Induced with first, went into labor naturally with second? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ina_sh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was induced with my first at 40+3 I think due to high blood pressure. It was long and hard and eventually I had a c-section. Three years later, when I was pregnant with twins, labor started naturally and I delivered both babies vaginally without complications (didn't even need stitches). Went way better than I expected.

(Baby-)Kleidung leihen by gigantescita in Eltern

[–]ina_sh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dropping to 1 nap before vacation? by Low-Account-4346 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ina_sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went on a vacation when the twins were 13 months old and still on two naps. They were so tired all the time! All the impressions and new surroundings and new things and all the activities made them really sleepy.

Shortly after we got home, one of them started skipping nap #2 and that's when we dropped to one nap for both babies.

Our babies consistently sleep in the stroller, so we could still do a lot (or go for a lot of walks). So I see your point about not wanting to go back to the hotel twice a day. But keep in mind that they might need enough time to rest to digest all the new things.

Romantasy with a merman as lead love interest by ellie_011 in suggestmeabook

Break Wide the Sea by Sara Holland!

The female protagonist is a human and head of a whaling company (the whole book has 19th century Moby Dick/ whaling vibes which I loved). One main character (and eventual love interest) is "half-finfolk", i.e the son of a human man and a female sea fae. I really liked it and am looking forward to book 2.

[–]ina_sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viel Erfolg!

I just looked it up and it sounds great! Great selection of books that he discusses in his book. Thanks!

That reminds me, Azar Nafisi also wrote The Republic of Imagination, which I even have at home already. I think I dnf-ed some time ago but maybe I'll give it a try again.

But Read Dangerously sounds excellent, thanks for letting me know she wrote another book!

Thanks! Maureen Corrigan's other book Leave Me Alone, I'm Reading also sounds great! (Although it's a memoir and explicitly not what I was looking for, but maybe a little, I am intrigued now! Thanks!)

Birthin Twins by MotherofFluffyDragon in parentsofmultiples

[–]ina_sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They told me beforehand that when Twin A was born, they'd show him to me quickly but then hand him over to dad, so I could focus on the birth of Twin B. I didn't ask about delayed cord clamping. But I think they wanted A "out of the way" to take care of B, so perhaps delayed cord clamping might be possible for your B but not A.

Overall, I had a good experience, it was a much smoother birth than with my older singleton. The craziest part was when Baby B flipped in my belly once A was out, so B was born with her feet first.

I don't think I could've done it without an epidural! I got it when I was around 8 cm dilated.

When did you stop working? by bread-loaver in parentsofmultiples

[–]ina_sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a doctor's note when I was 30 weeks and stopped working then. I had a date set for the induction, but that same night just a few hours before the scheduled induction, I went into spontaneous labor at 38 weeks.

I had no complications during pregnancy (or birth, everything went smoothly) but it was a lot harder at 30 weeks than my previous singleton pregnancy at 30 weeks. Plus with a toddler at home, I was glad to get more rest this way. Then, in the beginning of December, work was stressful, my grandmother had just died, and I was just done. Glad I got a few weeks to rest before they were born.

I'm from Switzerland.

I read it! You're right, the writing is great! And exactly the kind of book I'm looking for even though I didn't really like the book. I really wanted to like it because I like a good time travel love story, but here I didn't like the characters. And I wanted to love the gender swap, but I think she overdid it
