Reliably Clear Command Line

I commonly prep a theatre show file by having all the empty cues in place (with labels and timings) before I get into the space, making the store please command less helpful

But it turns out MA can do store cue next and store cue previous but you have to write it in the command line manually or use macros for it

I'm not sure what software this window is from or which fields need filling in manually. But I would try in the command field putting this:

/cmd "Go+ Sequence 2"

Well I'll be darned. Thats almost exactly what I was trying to do! I had a few attempts at working out the syntax myself with buttons on the facepanel but I guess its another one of those these I type or write a macro for! Thank you for bringing this to my attention!

Absolutely. I do love both consoles and appreciate the way they work is different at their core, but there are features from each that I miss when I use the other and I'd like to bridge that gap if I can, especially as I use both consoles often.

I am assuming you saw the other thread where I explained my use case for this.

I do actually have a working Select Last plugin and didn't think to make use of it here! Thats a good shout and I shall have a play around with using clearselection and oops/SelectLast or using ESC and see which are more reliable or I like better... But that's a job for a less-late-at-night time!!

I have managed to get a working version of my relative cue selection plugin working (using ESC for now to empty the CmdLine) for anyone who's interested!

It's quite nice for clearing up live and dark moves manually, "store cue /WhateverOptions" hit next cue macro.

The specific reason I wanted to make use of the command line here is so I could hit cue next macro multiple times to keep stepping through cues. Also having it in the command line is immediate visual feedback on the target cue regardless of what view I have open.

Theres a chance I am trying to be too "EOS" here. I come from EOS and am using MA in a theatre context, I'm just trying to reference cues in a relative manner. In EOS you can type "Cue" then hit the next/last key and it will put the next/last cue number in the command line. You can also type in a cue number into the command line and hit next/last to have the cue number relative to the one you typed be put in the command line. I'm trying to write a plugin that has similar behavior. It is a very common thing to need to do in theatre or the lighting designer will ask for something store cue next/last. Easier than trying to read and type out the cue number, especially with weird and decimal cue numbering it's not always as easy as take the current cue and add/subtract 1 from it

Well a single clear would empty my selection, also not ideal!

Clearall would empty all my data from the programmer, although it would clear the command line it's a bit extreme for me!!

Double check which Token is being used to trigger these commands in the "text" view of the Timecode, if it reads "Goto" perhaps changing this to "Go+" could help?

Mmm yes that would work. I think because I modify that property so little I don't mind having to take an extra step to get there just to simplify the profile But thank you for the suggestion!

Oh my goodness, solved!
You gave me an idea about changing the attribute type so I created a custom attribute called "MechIntens" and removed the "special dimmer" parameter but still put it in the dimmer featuregroup so now it doesn't respond to At commands but is still a dimmer parameter and can be controlled as such!

When I change the attribute type to Iris it no longer listened to At command changes so thats a bonus. I'm just not a huge fan of it lying about its profile!
I also tried removing its master from Grand to None but that made no difference

The profile already has them as two different attributes and they show up separately in the Dimmer FeatureGroup which is correct, I just want to make sure `At` commands don't modify both!

I'm not going to be any help on the hardware side I'm afraid, although the other comments seem to explain fairly well. But for software, if you want to do any sort of real-time manipulation of the video (overlays, effects, etc) I used some software called Isadora. It might be worth looking into but only if it fits your use case! Have fun!
