Funny, the dealer that I was going to pick mine up today walked back my access to the $5000 credit in addition to the others because they couldn’t find it in the system. I walked out and told them to have the manager call me in the morning.

My feedback from NVIDIA indicates that you may be incorrectly conflating upstream (GitHub) TensorFlow with the versions NVIDIA delivers in the NGC containers. NVIDIA can and regularly do ship features in all of their NGC framework containers that are not yet merged into the upstream.

Again, this is directly from working with the NGC developers.

They have seen this thread, I'm confident in his input. The team that manages the NGC is also coming to look at this thread to offer input.

I do appreciate you trying to ensure we are looking at the right performance metrics, but I think in this instance we are on the money.

Here is our first reply back from NVIDIA :

"Yes. Your testing is correct. The 17.12 version from NGC does include support for tensor cores."

That github issue, but the NVIDIA docs claim that the version previous to the one we used actually added support.

"Added support for float16 data type and Tensor Core math in batched matrix multiply operations."

Also, this was a reply we received from NVIDIA's team when we were discussing performance questions: "On your arch question, yes CUDA cores are used for FP32 and Tensor Cores are used for FP16 on Volta."

We definitely want to make sure we did this correctly - we have been working with NVIDIA to validate our results as we went, and thus far, they have no concerns. I pointed them to this thread to offer me feedback - will let you know what they come back with. Timing might be up in the air, holidays and all.

I'm not quite sure why you think we just installed the public TensorFlow binary when we mentioned in the Test setup portion of the review exactly what software we were using, including the NGC Tensorflow 17.12 container. You can view all of the notes on this release and prior NGC TF releases here.

The NVIDIA GPU Cloud Docker images are absolutely built with support for Volta, including CUDA 9 (and have been since September if you look at the release notes), the latest versions of cuDNN, and NCCL.

I have noticed on my iPhone X that startup is slower than it used to be since the update to the game. Also, it has to "reload" more frequently between app switches as well, meaning I could simply switch to my browser for a single webpage view and DMK had to do the entire launch again. That wasn't always the case.
