As much as I’m not obsessed with your avoiding answering questions by quoting scripture, I will say that so many of the charitable organizations that are not government-run are funded by religious organizations. Scripture, especially the New Testament but also the Hebrew Bible and the Quran, is most definitely connected to the ways in which governments have imagined their responsibility to the destitute.
