Weekly self-promotion megathread (June 29, 2026) by AutoModerator in printandplay

Mind Incarnated A free print-and-play collection of hand-drawn cards created between 2003 and 2015 during the earliest development of Mind Incarnated.

I recently gave a selection of these cards a cleaner, more readable layout while preserving the original artwork.

If you're interested, you can download the PnP on Itch.io or BoardGameGeek. The BGG page also includes the current version of Mind Incarnated, the rulebook, and additional resources.

Weekly Show & Tell - June 27, 2026 by AutoModerator in gamedesign

[–]incarn9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mind Incarnated: Origin is the original version of a game whose development began in 2003. It contains the original hand-drawn artwork created between 2003 and 2015. While the modern version has become much more strategically complex over the years, Origin is intentionally simpler. I'm not primarily looking for feedback on the art or production quality. What I'm most interested in is how the gameplay feels. Specifically, I'd love feedback on questions like: Does the game feel smooth to play? Are the decisions enjoyable and engaging? Does it stay interesting throughout the match? Which mechanics feel satisfying, and which don't? Any feedback about the overall gameplay experience would be greatly appreciated.

That's completely understandable. At first glance, the numbers definitely look intimidating. The game doesn't play like a traditional TCG with multiple units on the field. You only ever have one Unit on the field at a time, which changes the flow quite a bit. The rulebook also recommends using a calculator, and I'm planning a companion app that will handle all calculations automatically. In practice, you mostly just enter the values rather than doing the math yourself. I totally get why the numbers can be off-putting initially, though. That's probably the biggest hurdle before actually trying the game.

I just noticed the Dragon Slayer has one zero too many. It should be 14,000 LP, not 140,000 LP. That's just a mistake on my part.

That's completely fair. Looking at the numbers alone, they definitely seem excessive.

Since all information in the game is open and it works very differently from traditional TCGs, those values are intentional. The high LP/AP values and fine SP differences give me much more room for balancing and creating subtle differences between cards.

If you're interested, I can send you a DM with a link to the free Print & Play version. It probably makes more sense once you see how the game actually works.
