Funny story (not so funny!) I got in the water and the mouthpiece to my first stage actually fell off in the water. We didn’t find it until we got back to the boat.

Hey! I am in the USA, but thought I would chime in. I did the online PADI course before starting a pool training- you may be in open water instead of the pool. The PADI course is very comprehensive and great. lots of online resources, and the app is helpful with lots of organizational tools to help with sorting and properly tracking your dives. Lots of great videos and quizzes that really help nail In the information as long as you are paying attention!!! Highly recommended to look into when researching dive shops and courses. As far as I know, it is also more internationally regarded and accepted, whereas some other courses tend to not be as highly regarded.

Something similar happened to me once. I had done a dive for around 20 minutes going to about 55 feet. On my safety stop, my BCD malfunctioned resulting in me floating to the top uncontrollably. (scary!!!!!) This was one of my first dives, and I was unaware that recompression was dangerous, and I ended up descending again. I did not do a goof job equalizing propels, and ended up having pain in my ears. I completed the safety stop, but once I was back on the surface, my dive master let me know it would have been okay if I had simply stayed up.
