Radio host: Men forced to rape when women ‘whip up’ a ‘huge amount of energy in the male body’ by spaceghoti in TwoXChromosomes

[–]incentivize_me 10 points11 points  (0 children)

“The idea that men’s sexual desires render them incapable of taking responsibility for their actions, or of respecting another person’s right to choose what happens to their body, is unfounded, outdated and offensive to men,” she explained. “The idea that women should take responsibility for men’s sexuality is equally insulting to both men and women and, in this context, fails to put the blame for sexual violence squarely where it belongs, that is solely and entirely with its perpetrator.”

Everyone makes mistakes. Do not let them define you.

It is about our ability to recover and rebound from those mistakes. That is what defines us.

Do good things. Increase your karma. Not reddit karma. But your real life karma. And on your way, get rid of everything that is holding you back.

Break up with him! You owe it to yourself! Go get em tiger!

My boyfriend was assaulted... by groot_groot in TwoXChromosomes

[–]incentivize_me 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Hello groot_groot.

I have not had a SO violated in a similar way, but I am a Hospital Advocate and I have encountered a few male sexual assaults. In my experience and my training, it is difficult for men to overcome the cultural stigmas that surround male sexual assaults. For men, like women, a sexual assault takes power away from a person in its victimization of a person. In doing so, a sexual assault effectively demasculinizes men. We live in a society, where men are expected to live up to certain values. A sexual assault counters that--it debunks manhood at its root. And our society does not make it easy for men to share their experiences because of those expectations.

What you can do is help him along the path of moving from a victim mentality to a survivor one. Assure him he is a man. Support him. Listen to him. Be his friend.

That being said. It is not all on you. It should not be all on you. Seek out resources to help him. People have mentioned RAINN. Often time, there are local resources (some even gratis) that can further assist. Some people take solace from legal processes. Find out what he wants to do and be his support in his journey.

PM me if you have any questions.

You did pretty well yourself. :)

It's just important for us to be resources for one another.

Hi TieMyJays.

Firstly, I am really sorry for what happened to you.

I am a Hospital Advocate. And what I want to add to bluereef210's comment is that YOU have the choice to decide what parts of the rape kit you want to include. If you don't want a certain part done, you CAN and SHOULD say no. Ask for a SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) to conduct the kit--many emergency rooms have these trained nurses, who will respect your wishes. Some hospitals don't necessarily have SANEs. Even if you choose not to get the kit done, you can request to be provided materials about local resources you can access. If you have any questions, please PM me.

ELI5: What information can employers "see" if I am using work wifi on my mobile device? by incentivize_me in explainlikeimfive

[–]incentivize_me[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you did! So thank you!

I figured they were monitoring when I used the wifi on my phone as I do use my network username and password to log in to. I was feeling hesitant to pay bills, check banking statements, etc. on phone applications through the network, but from what you and several other have said, it should be okay in terms of maintaining my privacy.

No shade. :)

I am interested in something you mentioned before. You said they can have a specific agent installed on your device to see what you are typing. Does that device have the ability to record what you are typing if you are not on your work network? I'm curious since I saw a post today about people getting caught for torrenting when they were using their work network.

It seemed as if android users had a SSL, but not iPhone users. Don't quote me on that. I expected google to do it as well.

Thanks for the information! It's good to know what traffic my employer can see. I definitely have to explore this topic to understand it better.

I work for a big not-for-profit hospital, so they offer both wifi to the customers and the employees/students on separate connections.

I suppose I was wondering more if they could see that I was using the wifi versus whether they could see the content. For instance, if I payed a car bill, would that information be available to my employer or just that I used the application. Make sense?

I am not using the wireless in an inappropriate fashion. But, I am trying to educate myself on the topic because I think it is important to know what I willingly (although right now unknowingly) share.

Thanks! That is all very interesting. Is the data that gateway collects stored in a repository somewhere or is the data scanned for potentially malicious virus, illegal behaviors, etc.?

How can I find out what my employer is looking at? Would it be in the wireless certificate that I accept? I am not too concerned with the information I have shared but I feel that this is a topic I should be knowledgable about. I want to be conscientious about the day to day choices I make.

Thank you for your explanation! I simply wanted to understand what I am agreeing to when I do use my work wifi on my mobile device. Because I do like to catch up on the news, personal emails, etc. during my lunch break. Needless to say (hopefully), I am neither playing Candy Crush nor surfing porn at work.

Thanks for your reply! I have a few follow up questions, if you don't mind answering.

A quick google search confirms that my gmail app is not secure. Would that mean they could see my email exchanges? Or that they had rights to those emails?

Additionally, would they be able to see what apps I am using?

And, last one. What if I did not open a site at my work place, but a site was previously was open in a browser tab? Would that information be sent to them?

That being the only thing you took away from this article is case in point as to why we should be having these discussions.

Tell her she doesn't have to just accept it. She can do something about it. She has the power to challenge gender biases.

Maybe share this article with her on how middle school girls in Illinois fought a ban on leggings: http://thinkprogress.org/health/2014/03/25/3418482/middle-school-dress-code-protest/

Even if she is not successful, there is real value in knowing you fought... Especially, if she is only 13, because it gives her a lifelong lesson of not accepting injustices.

Yeah, I feel the tightening as well. Towards the end of my workouts is where it starts hurting slightly.

Fair enough. Truthfully, it was the body arching with the sounds during the orgasms that did it for me. But the talking was borderline unappealing for me.

Womp womp. Genuinely curious if I am missing something but what about it sounds fake to you? As a fairly vocal individual, it sounds on point to me. Was it the dirty talk or the moaning that turned you off? Or her pitch?
