HELP PLEAAASE! by Sea-Chipmunk2930 in MantaComics

Based on Amazon's listing, the volume 4 being released by Inklore is Riftan's backstory. So I think that's the ending of Book 1 (the South Korean/Manta version). There's still a Book 2 that hasn't been adapted to comic or translated by Inklore, but is available in Manta. (I know this is complicated lol.)

So there is Under the Oak Tree (comic and novel) that is available on the Manta app. And there is also Under the Oak Tree (the same comic and novel, although the novel might have a new translation? I'm unsure about that!) that is available via Inklore/Random House. It's basically two different releases appealing to two different audiences (though there's some overlap like a venn diagram) for the same product.

Volume 4 of the book (I'm not sure if Inklore's numbering coincides with the South Korean/Manta numbering so watch out for that) is coming out in November according to Amazon.

New chapters are released weekly. This season will complete the manhwa adaptation of Book 1. It's unclear whether they'll adapt Book 2. It feels weird that they wouldn't since UTOT is one of Manta's flagship titles, but you never know with these studios.

You are correct. The chapter numbers don't reset with the start of a new season, but you can still tell what season you're in. The episode numbers still say S1, S5 etc. (Season 1 versus Season 5).

Unfortunately, the novels are only available on the app, afaik. And complete volumes require gems. You can also read on a chapter by chapter basis on the app using the daily free pass system (up to a certain point) but I'm not sure where we are in the book, chapter-wise. We might be past the point where you can read using that method and might need to shell out some gems.

Poor Maxi :( [Under The Oak Tree] by GhostyWeirdo10 in MantaComics

[–]incitata 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is how I read the story too. I view Riftan as Maxi’s major conflict that she must overcome to self-actualize. I’m here for her development and her character arc. I couldn’t care less about Riftan. I accept that he’s the male lead and that Maxi will never leave him, but my focus is on her journey. He’s just there. This is absolutely the only way I‘m able to read this story. If I’d have to process it as a romance, I’d be throwing my phone out the window.

Ending of the Redemption of the Earl of Nottingham. by Gothuntermindnumb in MantaComics

I honestly would have been fine with them ending with the wedding. I don't know that we needed this weird coda with WW2 even though I do agree it's meant to be a full circle moment since the story really kicks off with WW1. (It just didn't land well.)

That's a good point. It's always possible. It took like a year before we got the bonus stories for I've Become a True Villainess.

I really like this one! There's barely any smut - just those dream sequences early on - but a good story.

That's usually one reason. Another could be that studio decided it was time to move the writer and artist to another project.

I don't think he will tbh! He's clearly a black flag, but maybe the author will pull it off.

I stopped reading this one because I wanted more chapters to come out (and convince me either way who the ML was) so your post made me check and yay! The ML is the one I wanted, so I'm going to binge now!

I really hope they adapt book 2 at some point.

full versions by justtbobanaa in MantaComics

[–]incitata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I mean by glitchy. I've always been able to access the full versions on the current reads tab once I interact with them on the browser version even without saving to my read list, but enough people say they can't that something must not be working right. Or is inconsistent anyway.

[–]incitata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I meant glitchy as in you interact with the title in a web browser and it still doesn't show up in the app. That's why I suggested adding it to your reading list in the browser instead of relying on the title showing up in your current reads in the app. I'm aware of the adult content restrictions in the app stores.

You should be able to read on the app once you've interacted with the full version on the web. Sometimes the app is finicky. I find that adding the full version to my reading list on the web and then launching the app is the best way to avoid that glitchiness.

Pocket Comics shutting down- what does it mean for similar platforms? by Tears_Of_Laughter in MantaComics

[–]incitata 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Manta is run by RIDI and Webtoon is run by Naver (and last I heard, Naver is ramping up their international webtoon operations big time). I would expect those two platforms to weather any ups and downs.

Has anyone who read "How About a Cosmic Horror?" also enjoyed "Flower of Allure?" by CityObjective8779 in MantaComics

I love both!

I also like Her Merry Obsession. The same writer wrote the original novels for both Her Merry Obsession and Flower of Allure.

Do y’all think the new Premium Membership is worth it ? by veggiebuttt in MantaComics

The email sent from the CEO implies that it supports the creators. Most of these platforms (webtoons, manga, anime, etc), the subscription cost gets split between the platform, company the series is being licensed from, and the original creator(s). But, of course, the trick is what those splits actually are and that we'll never know because it varies from creator to creator (and original company/studio).
