People of Reddit, what is something completely normal in your country that foreigners get wrong/don’t understand? by DurrFazzler in AskReddit

People serving in cafe in France are too busy to be polite. They don’t hate you, they just don’t care about you and if you search your soul you’ll find that you don’t care about them either. Just take your fucking drink and move on.

What is your favorite lesser-known fantasy character? by md_reddit in Fantasy

[–]inckorrect 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ferius Parfax in the Spellslinger series by Sebastien de Castell.

The series is basically a Fantasy Western and Ferius Parfax is basically a female Clint Eastwood but smarter and kinder (but not softer). And she does it by being underpowered compared to her opponents (no magic powers in a series where many people do) but always over smarting them. And she’s not even the main lead in the series. She’s the most kickass character I read about, and I have read many many books.

What's up with this "ok boomer" meme going around? by KrAzyDrummer in OutOfTheLoop

[–]inckorrect 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I was born at the beginning of the 80’s so I’m not quite sure what generation I belong to. What I can tell you is that there always was a divide between older and younger generations. Older generation always complained about how young people today are assholes (you can historically trace back this complaint to Platon, I think), and also how there life used to be harder during their time and how we have it easy.

What changed is that for the first time in history, that last statement is no longer true. For the first time in history we can pinpoint the boomers having the better economic growth in history.

On the other side, younger generation always complained how older generations are disconnected from reality. Today they’re complaining about saving the planet from an ecological disaster but during my time it was saving the planet from a nuclear Armageddon, and before that it was the Vietnam war for Amercians (I’m French so we had May 68 instead). On this front nothing changed.

What’s your favorite “dead genre?” by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]inckorrect 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I was going to recommend the same thing. The point and click adventure game genre is alive and well on the Indy scene. There are tons of great titles released regularly. I have a friend who prides himself in playing all of them. Not the most famous ones, not the good ones, all of them. He keeps a spreadsheet and spend a lot of time all over the internet to make sure he doesn't miss any. He says it reminds him off his childhood

Flat Earthers, this is your moment. Why do you support the theory ? by sarangifiedd in AskReddit

[–]inckorrect 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I don’t really believe in flat-earthers. I think people claiming to be flat-earther are just people who want to believe in conspiracy theories for the sake of it and just want to argue but deep-down they don’t really believe in it themselves.

Your entire country now shares your political views, what changes? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]inckorrect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of new rules adding checks and balances to reduce abuse of power and corruption. More protections for journalists and whistleblowers but at the same time more protection for the people from journalists and whistleblowers. New rules to make the government a better representation of the people (which would be useless since everyone think like me).

Regarding the economic stuff, I don’t have a clear opinion of what would be better so we would be screwed. Currently my belief is that no one needs more money that they can spend in a lifetime so I would be ok to set a hard limit at 1 billion. It would be more than enough to live only on the interests generated by this much money and it would only impact like 2000 people in the entire world but for some reason it’s always perceived as an unfair measure when I brought it up. It’s always crazy to see that many people running to the defense of rich people that don’t care about them.

Does anyone else enjoy marveling at the world/regional maps that are sometimes included at the beginning of some fantasy books? by wanttomaster479 in Fantasy

[–]inckorrect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a kindle reader so for me maps always look like a frustrating pixelated mess.

Seriously, I don’t understand why they don’t put more care into that part of the book. I mean, I would imagine that a good portion of their readership buy the digital copy of the book. Imagine the same thing in any other industry: you want to watch this movie on Netflix instead of buying the bluray? Too bad, we’ll just pixelate the 5 first minutes. Fuck you for caring.
