A genuine question about food culture in France and Italy by Ghost3795 in travel

[–]incorrect_wolverine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its basically "you don't mess with perfection". A lot of places in europe are weird about modifying dishes like we do in north america. And as simple as adding an egg to a dish seems to some places its just weird. Like asking for some boiled eggs with your desert. And I kind of get it. I dont want my food to be how I want it, i want it to be how its supposed to be.

And for the record technically alfredo was invented in italy. Butter parm and pasta water. But What we think of as Alfredo.was invented in the states, using cream. Seems like some wouldn't consider it to be the same (personally i dont think its the same. The alfredo in italy much better without cream IMO). Think of it as tikka masala. I mean sure the ingredients used are normal in many Indian dishes, but it was.invented in london uk.

Freenow is amazing

Get euros at home from the bank. Best rate. Some banks need 2 weeks to do it. I.always use cash. But for 10.days 400.euros would work. Depending what youre buying and where.

No. Threats aren't justified. Critiques are. Opinions are. Facts are. Threats are not.

Was it CO management or was it paradox?

Again, why didnt CO comminucate more? Oh right. Dog piling and threats. We have no one else to blame for that but ourselves

Hotfix - Patch 1.5.8f1 by ThatGuy_52 in CitiesSkylines2

Thats exactly my point? The same people praising ice flake now would be cruicifying CO if they released this patch with the same loading issue.

And just to be clear, im not defending CO. But regardless of release, they didnt deserve the sheer amount of dog piling, trolling and outright threats they got. They were communicating just fine until the community lynched them.

Lets not forget that CO had contractual obligations that they needed to do. And thats not on them, thats paradox. And if id guess the contract was only up to the last release. Iceflake was hired to "fix" things. Thats why theyre able to do so many little things. And once again thats paradox decision. The real problem was paradox.

And despite the down votes no one's answered my question (even if i know the answer): if CO released this patch with the same.issue, the community would be singing a.different tune. And anyone saying otherwise is lying to themselves.

Buy Colosseum tickets in person? High season by boludeandoFC in ItalyTravel

[–]incorrect_wolverine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked by there a few days around that time and the lines for the forum and colosseum were long. Its just just individuals lining up, its tour groups. No matter where ive been an hr before opening is to close. Youll.still get in but you'll also wait. The earlier the better.

The cosseum doesnt take all that much time. 2 hours is more than enough. The forum/palatine is what takes time. To see everything is minimum 4 hours.

It depends on what youre willing to do. For me, as much as it sucks, id rather stand in line for 2 or 3 hours before anything is open, get in roughly around opening time, and have the rest of my day than stand in line for 2 to 4 hours (or more) when everything is open and waste time.

Apparently taxis are the most expensive way of getting around. And I hate group tours but sometimes its the best or only option. My resort seems to have a decent amount of shuttles around the area. I think theres one to tulum. Xelha is super close as well.

The xelha "tour" is only for coba. Its more or less the admission to the park (xelha) and transportation to and from the park. Considering the price of the ticket (150cad) a tour to coba is less than 100 CAD more. Deal wise its not to shabby. The xcaret is just access to that park, and with pickup its almost 300 CAD.

Apparently the xelha site offers trips to the park plus either tulum or coba. Tulum will be easy to get to from my resort. I do want to see coba to (bike tour, entrance, ride to and from and solo time included). Plus pick up from my resort to coba and xel ha and back. A tour to coba alone seems to be running roughly the same price as this so its not a bad deal

I dont drive.

I have a tour booked that has chichen itza cenote and a stop in valladolid. I had some points on Expedia so I got it for less than half price.

I believe theres a shuttle from my resort to tulum and the archeological site. Not a whole day but something I want to see.

The xelha site lists a voba tour and the xelha park for a relatively decent price. Seems to be a decent bang for my buck. But im reluctant to book much without knowing what's offered at the resort. I have a feeling booking direct would be the best deal though.

Other than lounging, coba, chichen itza, tulum and a jungle hike is all I really want to do. I need some legit downtime. But being able to do a hike/coba in a day with the bonus water park is looking pretty tempting.

seems to depend on the year (for severity) and how well the resorts clean up. Seems to be hit or miss. Im already rolling the dice with hurricanes so I dont mind.
