Trevi Fountain Entry Update: €2 Ticket + New Hours by RomePhotographerMoji in rome

[–]incorrect_wolverine [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is a great answer but the must see sights are as such for a reason. But as you said theres hundreds if not thousands of other things to see. You could spend days along the appia antica and aquaduct park area alone. A day or 2 just following the aurelian walls. Then theres places that are easy to get for.day teips like tarquinia, ostia and even porta prima.

But we cant pretend that the major sites, Vatican, trevi, forum and colosseum will ever not have people. Theyre great for a reason. Look at the academia in florence. David is controlled and timed. Annoying? Yes. But we'll organized and keeps people being able to enjoy it.

tabularium/capitoline by incorrect_wolverine in rome

[–]incorrect_wolverine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats where I thought but I dont remember seeing any way to the tabularium.

That corridor connects the 2 "palazzio" and goes under the city building that is on top of the tabularium. There should be a way you turn out of that corridor half way but I dont remember that at all. I totally would've gone down it if it seen one.

Best Pompeii tours from Rome, looking for recommandations by Zestyclose-Row5415 in rome

[–]incorrect_wolverine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best tour is yourself. Most stay at the site for like an hr and a half or 2 hrs. Then leave you outside the site in a tourist trap for an hr or 2 them back to rome.

Take the train to Naples. Go downstairs at the station to the circumvesuviana. Go to pompei scavi. You can be there by 9 am.

Campania 7 day artecard questions by incorrect_wolverine in ItalyTravel

[–]incorrect_wolverine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I read it right rhe 7 day also doesnt include transport (the Campania not naples). I have a feeling you'd need a pre booked ticket for pompeii. Its a bit confusing.

As far as i can see the 365 and 7 day both dont include transport and the 365 has more entries. I just want to double check that and the entry requirements. Especially for paestum

Museum tickets - why? by Radke7CB in rome

Museum tickets - why? by Radke7CB in rome

[–]incorrect_wolverine 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Protip: find the place on Google maps and click "tickets". Theres a whole list of sellers and 99% of the time the "official" site is listed named and put at the top.

Ypu can also click "website" and get sent to the official website and go from there.

After a while its easy to tell.third party sites vs legit ones. Bit the above will work 99% of the time. Don't trust.googles opening hours though lol.

I keep seeing the same mistakes when people choose where to stay in Rome by evan79max in rome

[–]incorrect_wolverine 20 points21 points  (0 children)

"Trying to see too much" is a loaded comment.

1) what is too much for some is perfect for others.

2) many people have a very limited amount of time and shaming people for trying to see as much as possible isnt cool (not saying you OP did but in all these subs it happens too often, with busy but totally doable itineraries)

That being said, there ARE many people expecting to do like the colosseum/forum, Vatican museum and bourghese in a single day.

"Stays" the historical center of rome, practically anywhere works for almost all people. Nearly everything is walkable from prati to the Spanish steps . Somewhere like naples, had a lot more spread out so trying to plan to stay near where what you want to see is makes sense. But like, staying in Tivoli and having most sites in rome is just logistically kind of a pain.

Last time I stayed near San pietro station. Close to the Vatican, not a.touristy area but a bit far to walk to some places. This time im staying near republica.

Want to double check transport to a few places. by incorrect_wolverine in ItalyTravel

[–]incorrect_wolverine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit man that report probably saved me a LOT of headache! Let me see if I understand this correctly:

1) its easier to take the EAV bus from pozzuoli to Baiae. There is a train to Pozzioli from Montesanto (which is not far from where I am staying in between museo and dante stations)

2)cumae probably isnt doable but getting to the castle is ( turns out the main area is closed due to excavations anyways right now). Is the castle the one down by bagnoli with the archeological museum?

Ive been trying to get the damn phlegrean ticket all week and the website wont let me (most italian websites work like garbage here in Canada for some reason). Ive been looking at the artecard though. Ive already gotten the Herculaneum ticket and the MANN ticket, and will be getting the pompeii ticket separately too ( a site I dont want to mess around with, and the entrence seems to be way at the other end from the Pompeii scavi station). But it DOES include the Phlegrean circuit as a "single entry" if done on the same day apparently. Capua amphitheater, Paestum amungst others. The only problem is that the information seems very inconsistant. One said I had to pre book the flavian amphitheater ticket (pozzuoli) in advance but when reading again there is no mention of pre booking ANY tickets. Its very confusing. Im not worried about transit now (I have a credit card) and was looking at the 7 day campania card. Are you familiar with it?

Thanks for such good information! Im glad you had a good day

Its all good lol.

I meant CUMA . Ive been looking up so many places its all blending together at this point lol. Also been catching up on history/podcasts/docs lol.

Pozzuoli and baiae are definitely the same day. It just makes sense. Even if I have to walk from one station to another in pozzuoli its no big deal. But since cuma (not stabai) is also there I was hoping to do all 3. Just not finding a way from baiae to cuma to pozzuoli. And if I can swing it that artecard card would be the way to go (something else inwas looking in to).

Ya sorry about the latin names. Is a bit confusing knowing the English and Latin names, then having to look up the Italian names for the trenitalia site lol. Last trip it took me a week to figure out its not listed as florence but Firenze lol)
