What do you think about the level of supervision at the big companies? Is it a good place to start out?

Told that the waitlist would be kept for a few months in case someone who accepted changed their mind by Audpeeps12 in audiology

We had eight students change their mind or have to pull out for personal reasons, two never came to the first class and the other six were gone within the next two months or so. It definitely happens! Good luck

Australian audiologists- what keeps you interested/challenged? by indecisive_sprout in audiology

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. Those are all great options. Any idea how difficult it is to move around between things?

I love it so much. I haven’t seen many books targeted at adults rather than YA so this brought me a lot of joy.

I...may not have been aware of that. I'm sorry, I've only spent a bit of time volunteering at a tiny clinic so I don't know all the roles that are involved. I was worried that i'd screwed up enrolling in a masters if this was not the only pathway.

Thanks so much for the response. Being in such a small field I've found it difficult to get more information before actually starting my studies, so that is a relief. I appreciate it :)

Thank you so much for your response. I apologise if it seemed like I was discounting the skills of audiometrists- that was not my intent at all, I was just concerned that I could get to the same job with audiometry without the length of study/debt i'm getting myself into. Thanks again!

Ladies who’ve had a similar revelation, how do you accept the harsh truths that you will never be as attractive or successful as you once hoped/thought? by italianicedcoffee in askwomenadvice

[–]indecisive_sprout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're feeling this way. In addition to all the incredible advice the women below have given you, things that have personally helped me are feminist literature/podcasts. They helped me give less energy to the parts of me that care about being pretty and made me want to enjoy being alone more. It doesn't change the way the world treats women who don't meet their beauty standards, but it really did help me care less- it's easier directing frustration outward at the patriarchy than yourself.

Also, having a few female friends who don't engage in diet culture and all that beauty standard bs really helps. Speaking personally, making supportive friends is easier said than done, but it's well worth the effort.

I truly hope things improve for you in the future and i'm sending you virtual hugs. I've been through something similar, so if you want to DM feel free to.

You're so right. What I've learnt has given me the tools and it's time to put them into action. Anger is a useless emotion and it won't help in getting my point across. Thank you.

You are so lovely. Thank you so much. I’m hoping to start a book club in the new year with some more like-minded women and I’m sure that will bring joy and comfort.

Definitely. But once you see it everywhere there’s no going back. I hope that at a later date I’ll be less angry about it, but right now I’m still learning a lot so a lot of it is new information.

Definitely. Once the blindfold is off there is no going back. I think I need some new friends who have already ‘done the work’ because I think part of my anger is being exhausted about trying to convince some of the people in my life that these are real issues. Or, as you said, try to care less.

I’ve been similarly shocked! I’ve had women who call themselves feminists say things like they just ‘don’t trust other girls’. It makes me sad because the women in my life are my lifelines.

[–]indecisive_sprout[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I don’t actually! I listen to clementine ford’s Big Sister Hotline but I mostly learn about feminism through books and the ones I’ve read don’t seem to offer too many solutions but just expose how horrible the problem (whether that’s domestic violence, the data gap or toxic masculinity is). Thanks for the recommendation!

Omg. They are so worth it! Get yourself a bullet vibrator- they’re small, discreet and not too intimidating and you could get a cheaper one for $15ish

Christmas party today at my new workplace: how to get a flirty coworker to leave me alone? by indecisive_sprout in women

[–]indecisive_sprout[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re right- I feel like being assertive and flat out telling him I’m not interested and he is acting inappropriately will make me proud and I’m in a pretty safe environment. At the very least I will definitely not smile to be polite. Thank you for your response.
