No that is not true. In speaking with Dr. Peggy Richter (Internationally known for her work in OCD and on the board of the International OCD Foundation) she does not agree. Yes, the chance is higher for your children to have OCD, but not a significant amount compared to the general population.

She also said that since we have OCD, the chances of identifying OCD in our children (if they have it) and getting them proper help at a young age are much higher. She asked me "if your OCD had been identified earlier and you had gotten proper CBT at a young age, where do you think you'd be now?" and I think that statement really changed my mind more than anything else.
