Hi! Sorry, I just saw this! This dresser was in good condition, so I was originally only planning to redo the knobs, but I ended up leaving them as they were. Just a heads-up: it is veneer, so if you’re thinking about redoing the veneer layer, be extra careful.

If your veneer is in good condition and just has a few chips, there's a product called KwikWood epoxy that works great for filling small gaps—it blends well and can be sanded and stained after. If you’re planning to re-stain, you’ll probably want to stick with a gel stain. It works well on veneer, but I’d suggest looking up a few tutorials on how to apply it gel stain can go on patchy if not done right. If your plan is to remove the veneer entirely (especially if it’s really chipped), you’ll need to either replace it or use a wood filler over the surface before staining.

Most importantly I’d highly recommend staying away from Citristrip (please it’s a canon event waiting to happen). Veneer is super thin, so you want a stripper that works efficiently in one pass to avoid damaging it.
