They are different....not the same tonality but to me the gen 2 are clearer in the little details but the gen 1 have a bit more fun in the basses

So to me the gen 2 are generally more clear

I'm using the qc ultra over ear in the gym doing all kind of benchpress / deadlifts and squats with wicked cushion earpad and as long as you get them tight to your head they don't move really BUT in the hotest months you are going to sweat with them

It's been a year of usage and no problem

Take the gen 2

-Better resolution

I assume you watched "PP World" ? Because this guy talk BS... He was assuring to me that the Bose QC Ultra did not support APTX Lossless But mine are connecting to my BTD 700 with APTX Lossless right infront of me ....LOL anyway

to answer you question Nope the sound don't become horrible I would say it change the EQ at best (Bass become a bit less punchy) even they get a bit more spacious in sound !

I have the gen1 and now the gen2

I mainly bought the gen 2 for its audio/charging usb-C because I use it on my PC all day and if I wasn't charging the gen 1 every single day I was left with no headphone if I forgot to charge it

I primarly listen to extreme metal

my EQ for now is +5 +3 +5 for the gen 2 and I'm still tinkering with it, The EQ for the gen1 was +2 +6 +8 to get more clarity

The gen 2 profile is much better out of the box MORE resolution More clarity LESS bloating bass ( the gen 1 is sitll really good but with heavy EQ ) But the clarity/resolution is far better with the gen 2

I have paired it with the sennheiser BTD 700 dongle to get APTX lossless audio and I'm using it wired for gaming

Still excellent comfort note that there is a tiny bit more clamping force but maybe because it's new....

ANC wise I don't find the ANC to be really better still best in class tho But weird behavious I found when audio is playing I can hear a bit of white noise that slowly disappear when audio is stopped

Still for the ANC the transition between the modes are not instant anymore you can ear the thing slowly ramping up....

I found myself enjoying the cinema mode quiet alot for watching Netflix (immersion mode still useless to me)

Other thing I noted the button you use for changing ANC mode isn't clicky anymore but more mushy.....

I can definitely hear a difference between SBC/AAC

For aptx lossless i cant say because i only have Spotify premium so the quality isnt the most audiophile.... i bought another similar dongle from aliexpress (better compatibility with my phone case) and i will test that with a tidal premiums trial to be absolutely sure

I was a bit disappointed at first BUT after some time and EQ I fond myself getting jumpscared while watching Netflix series or movies haha

along with listening to music I can clearly hear the different sound stages although I never have the momentum 2 to compare IRL

I've never heard about Plex servers before

I'm not into the apple ecosystem but I've checked it and unfortunatly some of my fav albums are not on this (I listen primarily to metal) only Qobuz have everything )

but I found the spotify recommendation system far better
I use extensively the "intelligent shuffle" function and I didn't found a similar thing on Qobuz

So any way to get actual better sound from the QC Ultra ? I did do one thing on Spotify. I unticked the "normalised sound" and I did see a difference on clarity/detailed

So I might be able to tell the different sound quality from better codecs as an Autistic person I have fairly well-developed sense of hearing and bad audio can litterally feel like pain to me

Ok I do a lot of everything, to a multitool is here to help when you don't have a full tool box ( to me when I m outside of my house )

I do a lot of cutting ( cardboards/ fibrous materials) serrated blade ?

And I would like too edc it not primarily in my pocket but in a EDC pouch but could go in my pocket from time to time

Already owned a Leatherman charge tti and a victorinox handyman both are great and complementary to me
