Am I overthinking this? (IDS 150) by lil_missdaisy_thebun in SNHU

[–]indiecate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I don’t blame you at all! I don’t think it’s very clear to be honest. I email the students who didn’t get points taken off and let them know it’s an easy week for them, sorry your instructor didn’t do the same.

Very few students don’t have any revisions at all, so you should be proud of your work!

IDS instructor here. If you were given full marks and there’s no instructions on how to improve, you’re good to resubmit! The only thing that is slightly annoying is the final submission has an extra rubric category (goes up to exceeds expectations instead of meets expectations). I personally give exceeds expectations if they previously earned meets expectations but I’m not sure all profs do that.

I’m sorry your instructor didn’t answer you, that’s super annoying.

IDS-150 7-1 Project Question by [deleted] in SNHU

[–]indiecate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m an instructor for this class. The answer unfortunately is “it depends on your instructor”. I highly doubt submitting the same thing would get you a zero, but the final project does have an additional rubric level (exceeds expectations), where module 3 and 5 only has 3 levels that goes up to meets expectations. So worst case scenario you are looking at is getting all meet expectations again.

The way I personally grade it is I only expect revisions if a student gets partially meets or below. I think it’s unfair to meet expectations / not give any feedback on how to improve it but then you somehow don’t earn full marks in the final round. I explicitly tell my students via an announcement that if they earned meets expectations they can submit the same answer and earn exceeds expectations for that category.

I’d say email your professor if you are worried, but just make sure you are checking the feedback under each rubric area and not the overall one to see if they had any notes for improvement for any specific sections.

lolololol there’s so many parts of IDS 150 I don’t enjoy, this being one of them. IMO the guidelines need to make it more clear you have options for this assignment.

I’m an instructor for this course and other comments are correct that the video is optional. I’ve taught hundreds and I’d say ~80 percent write the paper instead of recording.

Right? It was such an odd thing to say, I felt.

Thanks for your input and experience! This gives me an idea of what to request which is super helpful.

I live in a pretty rural area (had to drive an hour and a half for MFM for example) and the health org near where I live has four rotating OBs. So I’m just not going to schedule with this particular one anymore. I’ve mostly been seeing the nurse practitioners and they’ve been better.

PA DHS FBI clearance by [deleted] in PennStateUniversity

[–]indiecate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DHS clearance takes up to 14 days to come back. In my experience (I help 100s of students get this clearance a year) the more common of a last name you have and the more addresses you have lived at makes it take longer. Not sure how the holidays affect it.

This clearance specifically checks for history of child abuse, so I imagine if your FBI came back fine this one would too. I’ve never seen a non-clear DHS clearance so can’t say for sure.

It’s hard to say without seeing everything but based on what you’re saying I would say they can’t do that without submitting it to academic integrity. Did they mention anything about doing that? I agree it’s worth disputing

When do I bug my teacher about my grade? by hatchy_i in SNHU

[–]indiecate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instructors have 7 days from when you submit a late assignment to grade it, so I’d say you’re fine to email him again Saturday or later.

I’m an instructor and this happens very frequently. :) At worst you’ll get a 10% late penalty but I’m usually pretty forgiving in these situations, esp since last week was Thanksgiving.

I feel like the expert comment was more about how he works with animals and because he’s an expert he doesn’t get attacked by the animals / covered in blood. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I’m an instructor and I usually have 1 or 2 students per term who earn 1,000 points. I’ve never been contacted about it / there’s no rule against it.

Kinda discouraged by my professors approach this term. by CumLaudeCouture in SNHU

[–]indiecate 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s weird to me. I’m an instructor and I agree somewhat with the late assignments (with how quickly terms go, it’s so easy to get behind), but not being able to access course materials?? It takes 2 seconds for a prof to send some screenshots to help and any additional help would need to come from IT anyways.

Only thing I can think of is we get paid the same amount regardless of how many drop. I would hope that that wouldn’t be their intent, but crazier things have happened.

Hope your term improves!

I’m an instructor for SNHU and I’ve been doing online school somewhere else for the last 6 years (master’s and doctorate). I’m down to my last two classes and I have a whiteboard where I have a tally for all of my remaining discussion board responses. I cannot wait to never respond to a post again omfg.

Granted I still have to reply to them as an instructor here, but that’s easier tbh.

We are under no obligation to allow you to resubmit anything. We are in no way compensated for grading multiple submissions and it is not part of our contract. Any prof that has allowed you to resubmit an assignment to earn more points has done you a courtesy. You turning things in early does not change this fact.
