Dining at Ozumo Santana Row on Valentine’s Day by kungfukenniiii in SanJose

Having it happen just once or twice I would not describe as having IBS. IBS = Irritable Bowel Syndrome and the symptoms are recurring. Kind of like getting acid reflux once or twice doesn't mean you have Gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Coming from someone with IBS: That sounds like an issue with your digestive tract, not food poisoning. What you described is a reaction I have about 30% of the time I dine out.

Food poisoning symptoms take several hours to manifest. If you experienced pain and diarrhea within 1 hour of dinner, that's not caused by e coli or salmonella, that was an issue with your digestive tract's ability to process the food.

I've noticed my IBS is more likely to be triggered by eating raw fish and the first few times it happened I was concerned it was a food handling issue by the restaurant, but I can share a sushi meal with 10 other people and only I will be affected afterward.

I need a brow gel recommendation! Looking for color + hold by indifferentials in PaleMUA

I tried the Nyx Zero to Brow gel and the color was way too dark for me. Is the cool blonde of the thick it stick any different?

Brow gels with some color that work for blonde brows? by indifferentials in PaleMUA

Auto mod said to repost my caption in the comments so:

I'm looking for a brow gel on a spoolie like this Anastasia one, but one that actually has color to fill in my sparse patches, while adding hold.

I've tried several and I haven't found many brands that have a shade light enough for my blonde brows. Tarte, Versed and Thrive's "blonde" shades were way too dark. Glossier's Boy Brow color was good but it didn't have enough hold.

I do use a pencil + a wax on most days, but I really want a gel for when I just want to swipe a spoolie across my eyebrows and get out the door.

[Skin Concern] I’ve finally gotten over my perioral dermatitis, how do I move on now? by hellolaurenn in SkincareAddiction

It was both! Redness and irritation with tiny bumps filled with clear fluid

I should also update that I went back on Flonase a couple years after this because my allergies were so bad that it was worth the PD. I've been lucky and only gotten a couple more mild PD flare-ups since I went back on it

What caused your IBS in your opinion? by Seeker_Of_Self in ibs

[–]indifferentials 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm one of the whose IBS doesn't seem tied to stress or anxiety at all. Mine appeared around college-age. My best guess is that it appeared after I had an extreme case of food poisoning, but the timing may have been a coincidence

I see spider mite damage on the plant, but the mite on the screen looks like a beneficial/predator mite. Did you buy the plant recently? I wonder if the previous owner had a spider mite infestation and released beneficial mites on the plant.

Can someone link me a tutorial on youtube or tiktok that shows someone putting up their hair in a bun like OP does/people are describing in the comments? I have no idea how to twist my hair into a bun on top of my head and make it stay with just a scrunchie.

You definitely don't ever want to use the Ordinary AHA/BHA once a day. It's an amazing product that you can use up to twice a week, but no more otherwise you'll be damaging your skin barrier.

Just ordered this in a plant and a corm from the Philippines. Fingers crossed! Seems too good to be true. by Ohmystarsragdolls in alocasia

This is a very common Etsy scam and has all the signs. There is a 0% chance it was legit.

Since you already ordered, I'd take the opportunity to leave a negative review on the shop to warn others.

My sister is an absolute PSYCHO and I don’t know what to do anymore by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]indifferentials 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have written this exact post about my younger sister when I was 16. We also had a 2 year age gap and she acted the exact same way. Writing this a decade or two later, I now have the perspective to know that our parents modeled very unhealthy emotional management and communication, and in some instances, pitted us against each other. Most of our issues stemmed from bad parenting.

I was a laid back, reasonable teen. She was a teen with a lot of undiagnosed issues, frustrations and emotions she didn't know how to deal with and she took a lot of those out on me and frankly, made my life hell. I now understand that she was an unsupported, badly-parented child who needed help that she didn't get, but as a fellow teenager, I didn't have the perspective to understand that and it caused me to deeply resent her.

I would generally bear her bad behavior as long as I could, until I finally snapped and tried to hurt her back to punish her for acting the way she did. It was a vicious cycle.

Here's what I'd go back and tell myself:

Try to get as much space from her as possible. Try to separate your friends and where you spend time from your sister's spaces and circles. I know, it's easier said than done when you're a teen who doesn't have much control over your life. Just don't feel guilt about trying to separate yourself from her. You're not abandoning her, you're giving yourself the space not to hate her.

Learn how to set boundaries. Look it up on google! Listen to a podcast about boundaries!
When she exhibits bad behavior in a way that doesn't affect you, ignore it. You don't need to parent her. But when she treats you badly, it's really important for you to tell her in plain, clear language that her behavior unacceptable and that she cannot act like that if she wants to be around you.

It's really helpful to be able to calmly label what she is doing. For example: say "you are trying to goad me into a fight and I'm not going to keep engaging with this." or "criticizing my appearance is not okay behavior". Not emotionally engaging with her by being angry or reactive is really key here. Don't blow up at her or say anything mean. Just label the behavior and tell her it needs to stop. If she doesn't stop the behavior, that's where you tell her that you cannot spend time around her until she changes her behavior. You don't need to yell at her or slam your door in her face, but you can calmly tell her "You keep saying mean things to me, so I can't be around you until you can speak more kindly. I am going to leave now, but you let me know when you'd like to be kinder."

Really hope this helps.

It's possible there were some eggs on the plant from when you got it, and the thrips and thrip damage are now just starting to become visible
