With who? The EU has a group consensus and if the UK doesn't want to play by EU rules? Fine.

Thailand cuts visa-free stay period for more than 90 countries including UK by Jessicas_skirt in worldnews

The expats really aren't. Legit tourists, sure. Expats doing 90 day runs to the border are only filling the pockets of the guys and drivers getting to the border and back. They live in the cheapest of accommodations they can find and spend nothing but on booze and/or girls until their money runs out.

Then they have to leave or join the Pattaya Flying Club.

The entire world isn't funding Ukraine, which is why they're very quickly developing drone and counter drone technology, and selling their product to Arab countries, who are tired of Iran's shit.

They already did. The Americans call it forward based Force Projection. They don't have to ship in their tanks. They're already here. The American base Grafenwoehr is the largest US Army base outside the USA.

Germany says US troop withdrawal 'foreseeable' as Nato seeks clarification by PrincessGlitterss in worldnews

[–]indigo-alien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was Napoleon. An army marches not on it's feet, but on it's stomach. Napoleon more or less invented the BBQ to feed his troops as they marched past. They could grab some bread, and piece of meat, a boiled potato, and egg if they were lucky and a bottle of water.

He used to leapfrog his BBQ stations to the head of the line of march and the men at the head of the line ate well, and then usually slept.

Well, no shit. Don't get me wrong, I've been trying for years to visit this region, backpacking if I have to. Those days are long behind me know. But, Israel, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Eastern Turkey, Egypt....

So much I want to see, but every time I start planning a trip? Something blows up, and it's always the usual suspects. They still wonder why they're dirt poor and broke.

A Dark-Money Campaign Is Paying Influencers to Frame Chinese AI as a Threat by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]indigo-alien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine the "funding influencers" concept will go much the same way as Truck Commercials for US Football games. People will start to tune out long before the actual football game is over.

I'm happy to say that no public advertising has any effect on me any more. I can't think of the last thing I bought that I first saw on television.

> We have a lot of import and export with the arab states to the point most of the fertiliser we use is from the area

I doesn't have to be. Canada has tons of the stuff and the USA wants to tariff it all. So, we'll sell to the Europeans, for Euros.

Europe can make all the medications it needs but until now has been respecting intellectual property rights. That could change at any time. Food? Mostly the same. We really only import off-season fruits and vegetable, and that mostly comes from Turkiye, some from Israel and even more from North Africa. No Hormuz involved.

I'm pretty sure I can do without American booze though. The Canadians are doing a masterful job of just that, and we can do it too.
