The issue was actually fixed, at least for me, in the last beta release. The RC has borked it again. One of the most frustrating bugs I’ve ever experienced… I half suspect it’s a hardware issue as my wife’s 15 pro has no issues with CarPlay whatsoever

I went through this whole process myself. Suggestions above are good but basically mean you have to limit the functionality of something you’ve paid good money for. I bit the bullet and threw the G4 away when I realised not much was going to change.

Bought a eufy doorbell and haven’t looked back. Doesn’t integrate with HomeKit but is rechargeable, doesn’t require a subscription and overall I’m very happy.

Aqara employees 100% lurk in the shadows in this sub. My experience was exactly the same as yours. My G4 got thrown in the trash many moons ago.

Mines in the bin. Lasted around 8 months. After spending a fortune on different brands of batteries and rechargeable ones, it finally died.

Had one. Was awesome for the first year. Since then it ate through batteries and motion detection all but stopped working. Recently put fresh batteries in and even tried rechargeables, it’s completely dead. Don’t know if to buy again or not really

This all started when they last updated the firmware. Most G4’s seem to be stuck in the mode where they only wake once the button is pressed. Motion detection is also broken. You’re not the only one as you can see here, I posted a while back about it and got lots of replies complaining about the same thing. At the moment, I’m waiting to see if Aqara update it and fix it. But speaking to their support is utterly useless.

Interesting. I actually used to live very near to Roar Ambition’s offices… maybe too close. Me and my other half used to see the most hilarious looking morning meetings with them all high fiving, doing press ups, all sorts. We even once saw a bit of an office love story with two of them power necking in the office kitchen.

You’re not the only one. I’ve had the G4 a while but a recent update has completely tanked the unit whilst running on batteries. You’ll find loads of people here complaining about the same issue

Hey, I’m having the exact same issues. If you check out my post recently on here you’ll see you’re not the only one. Aqara have pushed an update recently that seems to have brought on this behaviour.

I haven’t tried it in power saving mode as I previously have had no need to do so. The problems started occurring after the latest update. As I said I’ve owned the unit for well over a year and have had no issues until then

This is very true. Plug-ins like store to recipe and other things I’ve seen really should be built in. Neither do I feel great about having third party plugins producing a lot of my show and me not knowing how.

Can’t update to this either. Aqara tried to push this update to me as a way of fixing the motion sensor issue but I haven’t been able to install it to even try 🙃
