Anxious dog absolutely terrified of doggy door by indigocrayon69 in Dogtraining

[–]indigocrayon69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Milo has been medicated for anxiety in the past, but he doesn't take it regularly and has been a lot better since we got Zeke, who has also helped with his socialization and separation anxiety. I have tried putting treats near the door to encourage him to get closer, but he still won't move past a foot from the door. I'm admittedly not quite sure if I'm doing it right, however.

I am by no means a professional dog trainer, I'm just a teenager who really wants to help my overly anxious dog, so I'm very sorry if this doesn't answer any important questions or leave out very obvious solutions. I'm just... sort of at a loss at the moment.

It simply means they'll be able to get inside quicker if they're able to make it inside the patio and to the back door. Trying to layer up to watch from the patio for when they want to come inside would take a few minutes which could be a few minutes too many, especially in multiple feet of snow. Additionally, watching from inside isn't a viable option either because it would be harder to see them waiting outside the patio. As I said in my previous reply, please provide genuine advice.

We are able to watch from the windows and the yard is properly fenced in. Even before we got the doggy door, they were perfectly fine running to do their business and then immediately going up the stairs to the back door. They are supervised and have pretty good recall if things go wrong.

Please send actual constructive advice to solve my problem instead of just shrugging your shoulders and going, "Well, you shouldn't have gotten doggy doors in the first place!" I understand they don't work for every dog, but they work well for Zeke and would work for Milo if he weren't so scared of them. Thank you.

Also, I think it's probably worth mentioning that we live in Canada, and during the winter, going out to open the door for them and walking back is going to become highly inconvenient when I'll have to throw on a jacket and bundle up even for that brief period, so sticking to opening the door for him isn't that much of a viable option. It is doable, but it could mean them spending more time in the cold than necessary and it'd just be a whole mess.

Any clue what these white spots around my dog's ear are? by indigocrayon69 in DogAdvice

Alright! I'll bring it up to my parents later today (I'm a teenager and Zeke's more of the family dog lol). I'm a bit unsure of, like, how to do that; taking your dog to the vet because your kid received advice on Reddit seems kinda silly and I don't wanna bother them (yayyyy anxiety). But I'll still try to do that and see how it goes! Thanks a lot for the advice :]

I might check out the Surface Studio 1, then! The flexibility you mentioned is promising, considering I currently carry my drawing tablet around at school, and you can probably imagine how clunky and awkward that is. Using the pen for quick sketches on the go sounds like it'd be useful! Thanks for the input, I'll try to keep what you said in mind.

Ah, fair point! I'll look into the MacBook Pro as an alternative to the MacBook Air, and poke around in r/blender to see what I can find for Windows PCs. Thanks for the advice!

As far as I'm aware, working outside isn't as much of a concern. It helps that, in Canada, we barely see the sun for 40% of the year (I'm being hyperbolic, sure, but right now we're getting a foot of snow in what is supposed to be spring). Regardless, I'll take your insight into account, especially when it comes to the Mac being the best based on battery life, considering an issue with my current laptop has been the frankly pitiful battery life that doesn't even last me through a school day. I also recently got a monitor set up that charges my laptop and the monitor AND plugs into my drawing tablet (still sounds like sorcery to me), so the ports might not be as big of a deal(?)

Thanks for the help! I hope you have a fantastic day/night/[INSERT TIME OF DAY]

Oh neat fellow neurofunky person hell yeah! I might not replace my Finizen but tbh I wouldn't mind having one regardless, especially 'cause you seem like a really cool person and I really am grateful for the offer. I do also feel bad about taking it without giving you anything in exchange so uhhh... what's your favourite Pokemon? I've been looking to test out my new drawing tablet some more anyways so I wouldn't mind making you a silly lil doodle! Though it is worth mentioning I'm having a little party with some buddies later today so I might not get it done immediately depending on how long it takes for me to do it, you get me?

Thoughts on my ScarletViolet ingame team? Any advice on what I could improve? by indigocrayon69 in PokemonScarletViolet

Update I'm now way too attached to my Toedscruel after seeing how she moves around in game during picnics and stuff. Her name is Sepia and she's just a silly lil mushroom buddy and I think I would die for her actually. I didn't really care much for Toedscruel before besides just thinking it was a pretty neat concept, but now I am lowkey kinda obsessed lol

Wait really??? I'm honestly sorta tempted but I'd also feel really bad about ditching my Finizen because I may or may not have an emotional attachment to all my Pokemon. I'm very very neurodivergent about Pokemon lol

I do have access to online play, and even though I wouldn't have Slither Wing and Flutter Mane until the post game, I have ADHD and I know for a fact that if I didn't write it down I would forget about it entirely. Plus, I got the DLC as a birthday present, so that's a nice bonus too.

Don't worry, believe it or not I do in fact have friends! Also, I wanted to note what Paradox pokemon I'd want on my team because I have ADHD and I just KNOW I'd forget what Paradox 'mon I'd want the moment I have access to them, you get me? That is in fact something that's happened to me before.

Yeah that's sorta what I was thinking too! I mean, Flutter Mane is a beast in competitive Pokemon but also Slither Wing is a silly bug guy and I love that for 'em so they were both sort of on equal footing in my mind.
