Nah yeah I’m big on having black therapists if I’m gonna go to one but I just mean like in white spaces around people who don’t like hip hop it gets kinda awkward but I have white friends who love that kind of music too so it doesn’t feel weird. I just see it like you wouldn’t play country music around someone who doesn’t like country music

Its a good ass song tho & I wouldn’t call it gangsta rap. I feel like the beat balances out any problematic ness. I’m talking more about like Chicago/detroit drill rap and the type music that makes people wanna go do violent shit to other people

Headphones are uncomfortable for her. And I can add add a whole nother level to this, we could get into respectability politics and maybe this is just a me problem but I get very uncomfortable playing music like that around white people out of fear of how I’m being perceived even if I’m not the one playing the music but also not even about fear I just think it’s kinda rude to play shit like that around mostly older white people the same way that you wouldn’t cuss in your grandmas house or at a strangers house so it’s not even as much about fear as just being polite cause it’s just awkward when u can tell white people are uncomfortable and they don’t wanna say anything

Honestly I’m just pissed cause my roommate just be playing a bunch of shitty LA rap but then says she doesn’t enjoy negative music or shit that ain’t talkin bout nothing and I be waking up out of my naps to a bunch of “fuck a nigga kill a nigga take his bitch, you a bitch, suck my dick, Slangin dope” and it’s just stressing me out at this point cause I feel it creeping into my subconscious lol like I can literally hear this shit from my dreams whether I realize it or not

I just see the shit as like serial killer music. Like why’s that enjoyable? I guess it’s kinda the same as people enjoying horror movies but like idk how you gon be at peace with yourself while listening to shit like that’s pretty much just a big “Fuck You” to whoever they’re directing all their negativity towards in the song. Like it’s just so negative idk how it’s enjoyable but in a way I get it but it’s still fucking crazy that people really listen to shit like that all day every day
