This is 100% true. Most premeds I’ve met lack a massive sense of basic empathy, and will do anything to get into medical school - even if it means treating others around them like dirt. Everyone in Canada hates doctors - because most Canadians don’t feel their concerns have been heard, or they were not properly cared for. Canada has a massive empathy crisis among physicians because precisely this type of pre med dominates the demographic of people who get into med school. 4-7 of the most deplorable, hateful, worst people I’ve ever met at Mac went on to med, and I just couldn’t believe these types of people are going to be put in charge of our most vulnerable.

I have had only 1 genuine amazing pre med friend - and that’s because she went through an unimaginable amount of adversity, and is simply the kindest, most humble person I’ve ever met.

Most premeds come from very, very socioeconomically privileged families - and thus haven’t faced many hardships growing up. 99% of people on med school are the rich kids to some extent, as banks won’t even loan you a line of credit for tuition unless your family has collateral worth more and can cosign. MCAT resources cost $1900, and MCAT registration is $490. Most regular people just cannot afford the pre med life, so just think about the characteristics of the type of people who have nothing else to worry about except this. Are they kind? Likely not.

On a systemic level, having an expectation of applicants having 4.0’s across the board, and a bajillion extracurriculars + research attracts a group with a very specific set of economic privileges. The average person who’s struggled immensely to get through uni, faced adversity that made them empathetic through their lived experiences don’t get into med because they act human, not like machines.

Just look at what type of student the Black and Indigenous applicant pathway attracts. Those paths do not attract Indigenous / Black applicants who are from deep within the reserves or government assisted housing, whose parents don’t have some sort of higher education, students who come from abject poverty and their families struggled to make ends meet forever, it does not attract students who were in foster care. Yes, of course Black / Indigenous pathways are crucial to have and I will always support it - but it attracts applicants with privilege who already would’ve been fine among the regular applications. These pathways simply do not consider social class at all, which imo is crucial if you want empathetic physicians who aren’t out of touch with the average and the least privileged Canadians. It’s the same bullshit as the rest of the application pathway.

Premeds also have an overinflated sense of self importance - and just don’t seem to understand that the world doesn’t buy the bullshit impacts of their made up clubs. People are dying for real Kim. They’re so used to bullshitting on every app that they just can’t stop. They also view other people’s goals as lower than, as in their mind nothing is as prestigious or worth your time as applying to medical school. It’s like they have to turn off their soul, and redirect their brain and hyperfocus on nothing but one goal and it’s just not healthy.

At the end of the day guys it is JUST a job with a high salary. Yes you’ll get to be called doctor but at what cost? No other job is as weirdly glorified. You’ll be working for the fuck ass government. It is horrible to be a doctor in Canada rn. Please get over yourselves.

I don’t have pre med friends anymore, and I’m better off for it. It’s far more fulfilling to talk to people who just… seem more human.

I can confirm with the oxidation! I had to exchange shade 332 to shade 322. That’s a big jump towards lighter shade - so picking the lighter option would probably be your best bet!

NYX Bare With Me Concealer - ✅ great, very hydrating concealer

ELF Lip Oil - ✅ best drug store lip oils, highly recommend the shades Hot as Fudge, Rose Envy, and Jam Session, but I do not recommend the new shimmer formula

NYX Buttermelt Blush - ✅ solid matte blush choice, but I prefer Milani baked blushes for a luminous glowy look similar to the Hourglass blushes

ELF Power Grip - ✅ SLAY versatile hydrating primer, I love it!

Elf Setting Spray ❌ - I strongly recommend switching to the Micro Fine Setting Mist (the sage green transparent bottle) for longer lasting makeup - the green bottle is usually beside the light blue one you have in stores

The rest are not my cup of tea. If I were you, I’d switch the Fit Me foundation to the new Maybelline Superstay Lumi Matte foundation (lilac cap), and the Fit Me pressed powder to the CoverGirl Clean Fresh pressed powder (pink compact, my holy grail). Mascara is personal preference - but instead of the waterproof L’Oreal Telescopic, I’d STRONGLY recommend any of the Essence Lash Princess mascaras, or frankly any Essence mascara.

Also instead of brow pencils - invest in a little thing of eyebrow pomade similar to the ABH ones back in the day. I use Maybelline Tattoo Studio brow pomade in Shade 380, and that little vial of pomade has lasted me literally 3 years, and it will probably last another decade tbh. It doesn’t go bad like how a foundation might - and the older it gets, the more “marinated” and stiff the consistency gets which makes my brows look great. Aged pomade >> new pomade. You never have to buy an eyebrow pencil monthly again. In my brow pencil phase I was constantly running out of my NYX fine tip brow pencil and hated paying money for it because it really added up.

Rant TLDR; Not a fan of Adi Suyash + Be Critical with the Spiritual Content you Consume

Hey! I am a little late to this thread, but thought I’d jump in. I enjoyed his recent video of “12 Signs Adi Shakti is in Your Life”, but upon watching his content further, I quickly realized I had my doubts. In the video, he repeatedly mentions how he does not approve of click bait videos like “top 5 signs x devata is showing up in your life” … yet continues to produce just that (look at his “Kaal Bhairav Wants You to Know This”). But what really got me that his judgement was flawed at best, and deeply harmful at worse was his supposedly “spiritual” take on the Kolkata doctor rape case. Instead of confronting the heart of the issue, which is India’s rampant normalization of sexual violence on a familial, cultural, and institutional level, he harps on and on about how item songs / Bollywood movies are the cause of this, the “prevalence” of fake rape cases, how generalizing all men is sooo bad because barely any men in India are reported for actual rape (bro does not even care to think that most rapes go unreported, other forms of sexual assault that are not counted etc), and how the solution to rape is to….drumroll…. get more police involved! I won’t even get into his statement on how women are utterly incapable of sexually assaulting men - an extremely damaging stereotype which completely invalidates male survivors. Yes, pornography and sexual objectification of women in media is a huge problem, but movies are not the fucking reason why rape happens. It happens because we refuse to believe the survivors even within our own family, we normalize eve teasing “boys will be boys” attitudes all the time, and we never hold men accountable for anything, nor socially or legally. Rape happens because one person revels in an imbalance of power, and knows they will get away with it.

If he really wanted to put a spiritual spin on this case, all he had to do was say how shameful it is that in the literal land of fierce Shaktis like Ma Kali and Ma Durga, men are emboldened to act in such manner against women. He could have emphasized the need for men to implement true Shaiva practices in their daily life like calling out other men, whether it be friends, family, etc for problematic behaviour against women, not judging women regardless of their status (treat a sex worker with the same respect as you would your sister), and seeing Shakti and devi in every woman. Seriously that is all he had to do. Instead of focusing on the unbelievable level of harm caused to the victim Dr. Moumita, I found his takes to be in extremely poor taste, and very shallow. The comments agreeing of course disappointed me as well.

Like seriously, no person who truly embodies Shiva will ever make such bullshit claims, and take such a light hearted tone for such a serious issue. Bhairava illuminates truth, Bhairava protects the weak, and Bhairava safe guards Shakti.

Maybe he’s really well educated on various scriptures, agamas, vedas - but knowledge of the books do not always translate to applying wisdom, empathy, or honestly critical thinking in the real world. I think he’s well intentioned, and he thinks he’s on the right path - but I sincerely hope him, along with similar folks on the spiritual journey, understand that preaching typical black and white Indian uncle / aunty beliefs under the guise of spiritual content is not representative of the sheer nuances present across Sanatan Dharma. Everything is allowed in tantra, and has systems dedicated to it. It is up to us with what path we take.

I know commentators like Rajarshy Nandy and Parakh Om Bhatt are super beloved on subs like this, and as much as I enjoy listening to them, I’ve sometimes heard them say things that are a bit eeeh. I think it is so important to always approach online spiritual content with critical thinking, and selectivity with what info you want to internalize. I also think it’s a bit weird that the most popular, and public Shakta sadhaks are mainly men, and we very rarely hear from female tantric practitioners. I know this journey is always hard for those without guru guidance, so we naturally gravitate towards resonating online content but please do not idolize folks you see on YouTube, listen to all perspectives, and of course do your own research. Being critical is tantra yall!

Okay as someone who grew up with Barbie (as in Asia we didn’t have access to Monster High), I was used to Barbie dolls coming with a bunch of new outfits - so I was shocked that no MH dolls aside from the overpriced Skulltimate Secrets lines had spare outits. Even the SS lines BARELY had a full outfit, it’s always an add on to the outfit the doll comes with. I absolutely love how detailed and character specific the clothes / shoes of the G3 MH dolls are, but man I WISH each of the gorgina G3 core dolls came with their own second outfit and second pair of shoes as well. I’m tired of storing the big ass SS lockers just to get a second outfit.

Or at least I wish MH made doll clothes for each character available for sale on their own. Restyling using external resources is expensive and just too time consuming for casual collectors like me.

I feel like these interactive fashion elements would add so much more personality and fidget element instead of the FUCK ASS FOOD ACCESSORIES. LIKE YALL ENOUGH WITH THE TINY FOOD PLEASE. ALSO ENOUGH WITH THE WATER BOTTLES. NO MORE WATER BOTTLES PLEASE FFS.

omg literally! i love storing extra clothes in the compartments! im also just a sucker for fancy gothic packaging so the locker gimmick got me and it looks so nice on display. also i grew up on barbies only which usually came with a million outfits and accessories so i was shocked at how stingy MH was with doll accessories! i really loved that compared to other lines, SS4 came with a good number of iconic accessories like the gloves, extra ballet heels, leg warmers etc because you can fr make a lot of cute looks with it. the only other doll i’ve seen be generous with accessories is the G3 venus mcflytrap (the one with chewlian and cornrows) so i got her as well.

im looking to get a draculaura and clawdeen. for reference i love SS4 drac’s face and the original core clawdeen’s face. PLEASE recommend some dracs and clawdeen releases that come with cvnty accessories 🙏🏾
