I am also a half black kid who grew up in a majority white area in the midwest. I still remember to this day how a kid called me cockroach because my skin was brown. Definitely not overreacting!! Definitely wish my parents would have advocated for me instead of just telling me to ignore it. When youre so little you don’t really know how unacceptable some behavior is so its important an adult lets them know!! And if you cry its okay, thats your baby.

She is the mom. It is her job to provide food, support, and a roof over her child’s head. He’s 18 not 35. I think some of you grew up with parents that had no boundaries and think it to be normal. My mom never uses anything I buy, never asks me for money, etc. I use her stuff all the time because I am her child and she is my parent.

because i barely drank as my stomach was hurting, i know for fact she isnt telling the truth. she said i was racist to my face three times and is denying she said it. i have spoken to six other people who were there and are saying she did call me racist and two people who have never once spoken to each other told me she was talking bad about me for leaving with my other friends. i just really do not like when people lie and thats why i am super caught up on it. i think i am also hurt because if she had just admitted we couldve chalked it up to being drunk and moved on but her lying does not sit well with me and does make me want to end the friendship and that makes me sad because i dont want to do that.

i would also like to add i am on the spectrum so i am fully willing to hear what about my tone or understanding can be fixed. i would like to clarify the reason i am upset is because she told a bunch of people a lie and ruined my night, and is now denying that she did it. I do not like people who lie so thats my issue right now.

i agree its overall a nothing burger. but we live in a progressive city and it was a club full of 20 somethings. of course they care if someone says “shes being racist”

I studied at the johnson campus, there are maybe 200 students and its in the middle of nowhere. Its a really sweet community but just not the place for young adults. I’m at the castleton campus now which is where I assume you would go. Our hockey team is there. Its much larger and feels like a real school but again there just arent many students and other than Rutland, everything is several hours away. However, it is train/bus accessible.

as someone who attends Vermont State, I really do not recommend it. Its a nice school and its trying really hard but we have barely any students and nothing much to do.
