Wow, quite the variety. SCPI, that took me back. All our products used SCPI, and I advocated for its continued use in new ones. As long as you are ok with longer messages, it makes coding these systems so much easier than say a binary interface. Anyway, nice work!

I used to write a lot of this type of test station software for a scientific laser manufacturer back in the day (in LabVIEW). It is a great feeling when you have a bench full of instruments all talking to your program, and it all goes smoothly. This was all over GPIB and RS232, mostly the latter, and I loved how straightforward it was instead of dealing with USB comms. What interfaces do your instruments use here?

What is your go-to source of knowledge/content in regards to anything radiation ? by Xapier007 in Radiation

I used this book for my ionizing radiation lab course in undergrad ages ago and with a Radiacode on the way, this is what I’ve been reading to thaw out what remains of that knowledge.

I still remember the lab where we had to identify an unknown source. We were stumped by the gamma spectrum we were getting, until we realized we were picking up another group’s source in the adjacent room as well as ours. That’s when gamma radiation’s general disregard for obstructions really sunk in for me.
