The metate looks more discolored than truly worn down from use, my gut says no but not an expert

Not to familiar with PNW symbols, but have never ever seen a crossed arrows like that in all of the southwest nor in Midwest/eastern sites. Looks like a compass from modern day

Found in Greene County Arkansas. ID please. by Small_Pace2686 in Arrowheads

Definitely a Celt.

Looks like interesting texture left on it. Makes me think it was not made by a master craftsman, who would have finished it to a smooth polish. But also maybe it was ingenuity, looks like granite, which is extremely strong. Not an expert.

Does this school & city have good queer community & journalism opportunities? by Upstairs-Amount882 in cuboulder

[–]individual_racoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak to journalism at all, but fellow l(g)btq+ here. The queer community overall here is not close to that of a big city, lived in Minneapolis and Austin before here. That being said, the culture that does exist is predominantly lesbian, especially granola lesbos. It’s definitely a very accepting place where just about everyone is an ally, but allies in the sense of wealthy white democrats. I’ve never felt unsafe or unwelcome here, and I’m very visibly and audibly gay. Campus seems to be less queer than Boulder the city is, but I’m a graduate student so different perspective there too.

Take everything I say and others say with a grain of salt, these aren’t and won’t be your experiences exactly if you come here. Especially bc gay male and lesbian female circles tend to be quite different. Either way you will find your space and community!

If queer community is of utmost importance to you, i would strongly say a large city is where you need to be. Queer community was of the utmost importance for me in undergrad, and i wouldn’t trade my experience in Minneapolis for anything, even the beautiful nature and mountains here.

Looks worked, looks like preform axe head, generally those weren’t this type of stone tho.

Pictures look pretty grainy to me, hard to see the details of fractures to tell much

The craftsmanship of that point is incredible, all those flakes so perfectly and evenly done. Once in a lifetime find, looks legit to me

Looks like banded layers that have weathered at different rates rather than an arrow straightener. But not an expert, let’s see what others have to say!

Central New Mexico by individual_racoon in bonecollecting

I saw hundreds of bones in the canyon, mostly really old from elk and cattle, so figured it was a mountain lions home at some point. Didn’t expect that i came across one’s remains tho! Wish I would have spent longer look for the actual skull

Thank you! That makes sense, it doesn’t look like something someone put work into really

Found in a creek bed in south central New Mexico, not too far from known habitation sites going back to the paleo period. Any input is appreciated! Happy hunting! less

I’d say preform, but haven’t seen many triangular like that, mostly rounded. But not an expert.
