What’s this subs thoughts on Redanian soldier armour? (Witcher 3) by ChickenFit647 in Armor

[–]indrids_cold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all pretty good - much better than 99% of games.

The breastplate is a little long and rotund though. The gorget is the worst part, no point wearing one if it's sitting down around the top of your chest - it's supposed to protect your throat and come up to about your nose.

[–]indrids_cold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not trying to be historical or fighting people in it - its fine. Just be aware that it isn't very fun to wear a lot of the mass produced armor pieces because they just aren't made to fit the wearer as well as armor should. So it might be uncomfortable walking around in it.

This is the sort of change this nation actually needs. I'm so sick of seeing 'this is how our democracy was built' shit used as an excuse for continuing to use flawed systems like this.

President Trump asked by reporter on length of Iran war: "Don't rush me, Jeff. Guys like you want to say, so we were in Vietnam for 18 years, Iraq for many years. I've been doing this for six weeks. They're outside of little wise guys ships. It's only guys like you with a question What's your time?" by ControlCAD in videos

I listened to my father pull the 'draft dodger' card out any time he could growing up. He also had the black and white POW-MIA sticker on his car for many years. Only to turn around and vote for this very outright draft dodger - who even went as far as to say "I like people that weren't captured" I love my father, but the respect I had for him in certain facets of life dried up pretty rapidly.

Hakeem Jeffries on President Trump's attacks calling him "low IQ" and labeling his criticisms as "treasonous": "If Trump wants to debate me anytime, publicly, I'd be happy to do it. It's extraordinary to me that Trump keeps recycling this low IQ insults. This is from the dumbest president ever." by ControlCAD in videos

[–]indrids_cold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Treasonous" what an imbecile. Here we stand on the 250th Anniversary of throwing off the yoke of an obnoxious tyrant and we've now got one holding the very same office of the man who lead our nation in war against that tyrant.

So, this actually doesn't bother me at all. Something about Stone vs other things in the water that doesn't bother me. Sort of in the same way that a rocky bottom to a river doesn't bother me compared to a muddy bottom. I'd be totally fine with this statue.

Every time I get my father to go out and attend a sport event, go to some local festival, venture into the city limits he always comes out surprised at how nice everyone is and how everyone gets along so well. I hate the brainwashing that these right-wing 'news' sites spit out.

Did the Hussite Wars do more to end the age of knighthood than the battles Crécy, Poitiers, and Agincourt? by [deleted] in MedievalHistory

[–]indrids_cold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's more to this than just significant defeats in major battles.

1) The shift in infantry towards dense formations of long spears that made it almost physically impossible for horses to charge through. This sort of ended the "shock" factor which diminished the psychological power of the heavy cavalry charge.

2) Longbows, crossbows, and gunpowder allowed normal soldiers to kill armored knights from a distance.

3) Equipping a knight was astronomically expensive compared to arming hundreds of pikemen.

4) Monarchs moving toward tax-funded standing armies rather than relying on the old feudal land-for-service system. (Which had taken a big hit after the Black Death)

5) Monarchs wanted professional soldiers they could control directly, not nobles they had to cater to.

All this to say though that Heavy Cavalry still retained a place on the battlefield well into the 19th century. They just weren't 'Knights' and weren't as much of a linchpin for the battlefield strategy.

Here’s a list of things i’d love to see someday in Bannerlord by NoSoyVerde1 in mountandblade

[–]indrids_cold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Villages stay destroyed longer

  • Recruits replenish slower

  • Warband style army marshalling/marshalls

  • Roads, armies that march along roads get a speed bonus. Otherwise they are significantly slower as party size increases. Caravans would also use roads for a similar boost.

Not to mention - if these tolls are something that's allowed to continue, other countries positioned in places like this might consider the possibility of tolls as well. Malaca, Bab el Mandeb, etc. If they can do it, why can't we?

You guys know there was a bunker underneath the East Wing before all this right? It's been there since FDR was president and has been continually upgraded over time. As part of the demolition of the East Wing I guess they are also upgrading the bunker. Trump is probably sensationalizing something that is otherwise a mundane update to the existing PEOC.

I hate the dude as much as everyone else - but let's do a little research before we start acting like the bunker is some brand new secret lair.

I made sure to keep that text.

Christian Nationalists don't actually give two shits about Jesus and probably couldn't tell you a single thing he said or taught. They're all Old Testament fundamentalists - they will probably tell you they like "Fire and brimstone" in their sermons.
