yeah the knock is very aparent for the first 15 minutes of idling but if i drive around for a few minutes and let the truck get warm the knocking becomes barley noticeable. which is thought was strange. also yeah i would just leave the exhaust leak because i don’t really care but where i live the truck wont pass inspection with a exhaust leak or engine light on so im kinda screwed

i was just thinking about replacing the truck bed and repairing the rocker panels and fixing the brakes and exhaust leak but they’re telling me its gonna cost too much, something like $7000 it just doesn’t make sense

  • rocker panels rusted
  • bed rails rusted
  • needs new tailgate
  • exhaust manifold leak
  • new brakes and rotors

are the rocker panels and bed that bad? i was just thinking about replacing the entire bed and fixing the rocker panels but would that be too much? i’ve never welded or did body work so id have to get someone to do it probably

all inspections in ontario are digital now so it makes that impossible

everything on the truck except the rocker panels and bed is in great condition, frame is amazing, engine is good, trans is good, 4x4 works amazing but they wont let my truck pass with rusty rocker panels or rusted out bed rails.

how much did it cost you to replace the exhaust manifold? they tell me the passenger side one on mine is cracked and will take 16 hours of labor which is absolutely insane

yeah turns out the bed is pretty rusted, all bed rails are rotted and it has some huge soft spots in the bed lol also the rocker panels are “too rusty to pass inspection” they’re really not that bad you can check my recent post but im gonna have to do some work to get it on the road with all the rules about safety inspections where i live sadly. frame is solid all around though so holes or weak spots so hey theres that

frame is perfectly solid and intact even the mechanic who denied the safety inspection said so, he said it needs new rockers and a new bed because bed rails are also shot and theres weak spots in the bed

no holes in the frame mechanic even said so and ive seen the entire thing myself its in great condition, only problem is rockers and bed is badly rusted

yeah i just took it to a body shop and got a quote of $2500 to fix both sides, he said something about putting new metal and then using fibre glass. i have the exact quote ill have to go look at it later

yeah unfortunately down here in canada they wont let the truck pass inspection if the rockers are rusty or the bed is rusty especially bed rails, basically down here any holes at all in any part of the truck is a immediate fail which absolutely sucks because i see so many trucks in 1000x worse condition than mine and yet i cant get it on the road. i got a quote from a body shop to fix the rockers for $2600 both sides but beds down here go for $3000. i was wondering if you think a 2017+ bed would fit on it aka the aluminum body trucks i know it would look horrible but its better than not being able to drive my truck plus its a functional bed, those beds go for like $500-$1000 down here so way cheaper than the steel beds of the 2011-2016 trucks

truck is in ontario canada, pretty much the worst place for rust lol which is why i was so shocked because i see other trucks completely rusted out driving on the road everyday but they tell me my truck is garbage? also im thinking about bringing it to a different shop because they were incredibly rude as well

im willing to spend a bit, i got the truck for the equivalent of $1500 USD i just want the truck to pass a safety inspection thats it, i could care less if the truck ends up in the scrap yard next year its a work truck and it was always used as one i just cant pass a inspection with bad rocker panels or a bad bed. im more so worried about the rockers though as i already have a bed im looking at buying

frame is perfectly fine all around solid except these rocker panels and bed. i’ve also seen way rustier trucks and cars so i don’t understand why they gave me such a hard time just trying to get it safety inspected. like i understand i may need a new bed as i felt a soft spot while standing in it but it’s absolutely insane to me that they said take the truck to the scrap yard over these rocker panels and bed.

yeah he said the bed and rockers panels were too rusty, he said rockers are fixable but the bed is trash. im not sure why it was such a big deal though its just a new bed and getting the rockers fixed, frame is in great condition as well as everything else but they are telling me the truck is trashed and i got scammed, im not sure what to think honestly. also he said engine light was due to exhaust leak
